Administrators are also welcoming AI agents to enhance student support and address burnout.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Applying to college can be time-consuming and challenging. In fact, in a new survey of more than 500 students and 200 administrators in higher ed, Salesforce found that half of the students polled reported feeling overwhelmed by the process. At the same time, challenges \u2014 like a lack of clarity around financial aid options, slow communications, and complex processes \u2014 are deterring many students from applying altogether. Students are also looking for a greater level of support once they make it on campus \u2014 with 63% stating they wished they had access to 24\/7 assistance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For their part, higher ed staff, faculty, and administrators are doing their best to address student concerns. But they face their own set of challenges, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtech.com\/education\/higher-ed\/report-limited-resources-hinder-continuing-education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">limited resources<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidehighered.com\/opinion\/blogs\/learning-innovation\/2023\/06\/12\/future-labor-shortages-and-university-workplace#:~:text=Higher%20education%20staffing%20shortages%20will,education%20are%2055%20and%20over.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">workforce shortages<\/a>. As a result, higher ed employees are experiencing high levels of burnout. In fact, the study found that more than half<strong> <\/strong>of school administrators feel burnt out multiple times every month..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, students, faculty, and administrators are optimistic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/what-are-ai-agents\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI agents<\/a> could solve many of these issues. In fact, 77%<strong> <\/strong>of students reported they would use AI agents to help with school processes, and 83% of administrators said they would welcome AI agent support in their roles. This enrollment cliff won&#8217;t just affect universities already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestcolleges.com\/research\/college-enrollment-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struggling to attract students<\/a> but the broader economy as well. Fewer college students means fewer skilled workers entering the job market. href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/education\/recruitment-admissions-software\/admissions-funnel-guide\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admissions process<\/a> were more personalized and the wait times were shorter between applying and acceptance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>60%<\/strong> would interact with an AI agent if it provided timely and accurate responses.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nearly half<\/strong> of students are excited about the prospect of having an AI agent help them with coursework.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In fact, AI supports <strong>one-fourth of students\u2019 workload already.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>83%<\/strong> of school admins expressed that they&#8217;d welcome AI agent support in their roles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>56%<\/strong> of students report not having 24\/7 access to answers for common questions, while <strong>63%<\/strong> wish they did.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nearly half<\/strong> of students say it can take <strong>up to a week<\/strong> to hear back from school admins on inquiries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One-third<\/strong> of students don\u2019t even contact their school admins with inquiries because they don\u2019t anticipate getting the help they need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-this-is-good-news-for-administrators-who-are-already-stretched-too-thin\"><strong>This is good news for administrators who are already stretched too thin<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Over one-third (35%)<\/strong> of school administrators find themselves unable to provide timely support to students due to the burden of administrative tasks.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One-third<\/strong> are prevented from offering personalized support for the same
