But automotive companies haven&#8217;t been able to tap into the full potential of these features \u2014 until now.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/automotive\/connected-car-software\/what-is-a-connected-car\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Connected cars<\/a> have been in development for decades, yet their full potential remains frustratingly untapped.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A typical connected vehicle can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spglobal.com\/mobility\/en\/research-analysis\/briefcase-can-data-privacy-concerns-spoil-connected-car-party.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collect information from more than 100 different datapoints<\/a>, thanks to embedded technologies and features like geolocation and navigation, cameras and sensors, companion apps, biometrics, voice recognition, on-board diagnostics, and driver assistance. What that data does for the car\u2019s driver, however, is pretty limited.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s connected car is like a smartphone that can only make emergency calls,\u201d said Achyut Jajoo, SVP &amp; GM, Manufacturing &amp; Automotive at Salesforce.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Today\u2019s connected car is like a smartphone that can only make emergency calls.<\/p>\n<cite>Achyut Jajoo, SVP &amp; GM, Manufacturing &amp; Automotive at Salesforce<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Put another way: A connected car has the data and capabilities to provide deeply personalized experiences, but often isn\u2019t able to act on it. For example, a car can see your location and GPS data that you regularly avoid highways. But it can&#8217;t\u200c use that data to personalize your route guidance or send you timely alerts for when you should leave home to get to work on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jajoo continued, \u201cTo deliver on the promise of a fully connected driving experience, automakers and manufacturers need to break down siloes of trapped data in legacy and disparate systems. Once that data is connected, they can unleash <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/digital-labor\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital labor<\/a> to drive highly personalized, immersive, and truly connected experiences for customers.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is increasingly important as we enter the era of software-defined vehicles \u2014 where software, rather than hardware, plays a much more significant role in defining a car\u2019s features and capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s not just about making driving experiences more connected and immersive. Every aspect of the car buying and ownership journey needs a refresh. You\u2019re not sure how severe it is, and a sense of panic sets in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what if instead of just displaying a warning light, your car could tell you the severity of the issue, suggest the best course of action, and then actually <em>take<\/em> that action \u2014 proactively scheduling an appointment with your preferred service center, with your availability and location considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how AI agents will help connected cars realize their full potential, said Jajoo. Currently, consumers still need a lot of hand-holding to get to the dealership or a service center to get repairs done. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/ai-agents-automotive-industry-stats-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a recent study by Salesforce<\/a> found that 70% want an AI agent to diagnose and address car issues in real time, and 80% of drivers want an AI agent that can alert them of mechanical problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"contextual-driver has-text-align-left contextual-driver--einstein\">\n\t<header class=\"tidbit-header\">\n\t\t<h2 class=\"tidbit-head\">\n\t\t\tRevolutionizing the car-buying experience: the AI-powered personal concierge\t\t<\/h2>\n\t<\/header>\n\t<div class=\"tidbit-body\">\n\t\t<p>A car is one of the biggest purchases a consumer will make, and customers have a longstanding set of trust issues with the auto industry. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/ai-agents-automotive-industry-stats-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thirty-three percent<\/a> of Salesforce survey respondents say they have delayed or cancelled purchases, 35% have switched brands, and 38% have postponed repairs due to budget concerns or deep-seated mistrust of auto industry players.<\/p><p>There\u2019s a huge opportunity for automakers and dealers to overcome this trust gap using AI agents. If agents can share objective, unbiased information with a consumer on behalf of an automaker, automakers can chip away at this problem. In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/ai-agents-automotive-industry-stats-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">60% of consumers of all ages<\/a> surveyed by Salesforce reported they want AI agents to help them buy their next car.<\/p><p>&#8220;Think of AI agents as a personal concierge for every customer,\u201d said Jajoo. AI agents can guide customers through the car-buying journey, provide tailored recommendations, answer questions, find financing options, and even negotiate deals.\u00a0<\/p><p>&#8216;You can take away a lot of the anxiety of the buying process by narrowing down the infinite amount of choice,\u201d said Jajoo. Instead of personally reading through each carmaker\u2019s web pages and navigating a lot of clicks, agentic AI can help build a curated list of three or four options based on consumer wants and needs. Goodyear Tire identified an opportunity to unify disparate sales tracking systems, better leverage data in product and customer strategy, and elevate the end consumer\u2019s buying experience, and they chose Salesforce to partner on this transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By using agents to drive more frequent engagement and targeted offers, the company will be able to increase marketing campaign effectiveness and drive frequent and targeted customer communication to drive loyalty, service revenue, and ultimately customer retention rates. Agentforce will also help with autonomous scheduling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goodyear expanded its relationship with Salesforce and is also adopting Agentforce to automate and increase the effectiveness of its sales efforts.
