So it&#8217;s no surprise that Gen Z is comfortable with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/artificial-intelligence\/what-is-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artificial Intelligence<\/a> (AI): Nearly<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.campbell.edu\/academictechnology\/2025\/03\/06\/ai-in-higher-education-a-summary-of-recent-surveys-of-students-and-faculty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> nine out of ten college students have used AI<\/a> to help them in their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-media-wrapping-container\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignleft is-type-video is-provider-vidyard wp-block-embed-vidyard\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" async src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/embed\/v4.js\"><\/script><img decoding=\"async\"  style=\"width: 100%; margin: auto; display: block;\"  class=\"vidyard-player-embed\"  src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/J73SFAbJPcpWZcrxie2DaU.jpg\"  data-uuid=\"J73SFAbJPcpWZcrxie2DaU\"  data-v=\"4\"  data-type=\"inline\"  data-width=\"500\"  data-height=\"187\"\/>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet while many of the generational cohort born between 1997 and 2012 are enthusiastic users of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/artificial-intelligence\/what-is-generative-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generative AI<\/a> in their personal and academic lives, they&#8217;re less confident using this technology in a workplace setting, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/daily-ai-workforce-use-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new survey by Slack, a Salesforce company<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This hesitancy presents a huge opportunity for companies to mold their newest hires into an AI-ready workforce. Senior leaders must empower Gen Z to fully integrate generative \u2014 and now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/what-is-agentic-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agentic AI<\/a> \u2014 into their professional contributions by building trust, redefining traditional roles, and clarifying guidelines.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-building-trust\"><strong>Building trust<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A key component of empowering young employees is to assure them that AI is not going to take away their opportunities to grow and learn on the job, said Gemma Quinn, Salesforce&#8217;s Vice President of Global University Recruiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;AI is not going to eliminate entry-level jobs,&#8221; she said. &#8220;But it will cause these jobs to evolve, because the candidates who will fill them have already evolved. For example, companies will need to hire and train for AI creation, search, and management skills as much as technical skills. These are elements of the future workforce that younger employees often must learn on the job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Agents are going to be helping people \u2013 like Gen Z \u2013 that don&#8217;t have a lot of experience.<\/p>\n<cite>Greg Shewmaker, CEO of r.Potential<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAgents are going to be helping people \u2013 like Gen Z \u2013 that don&#8217;t have a lot of experience,\u201d said Greg Shewmaker, CEO of r.Potential, a Salesforce customer. \u201cThere are all these social and \u2026 emotional elements of any particular job. And I think that&#8217;s what a lot of young people that I&#8217;m talking to are most interested in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shifting to an AI-ready workforce will also affect how companies onboard and train this new cohort, Quinn added. Leaders will need to compress learning curves to get new employees up to speed faster, and heap more responsibility on them sooner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salesforce is building for this future by accelerating its <a href=\"https:\/\/careers.salesforce.com\/en\/university\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Futureforce<\/a> internship and training programs. Summer interns are automatically invited to join Salesforce\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/trailhead.salesforce.com\/agentblazer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Agentblazer<\/a> program, where they can learn the fundamentals of building and deploying AI agents. Each intern is assigned a learning track for the department where they&#8217;ll be placed, and everyone gets a full immersion in Salesforce&#8217;s flagship products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;A significant portion of our interns are already Agentblazers on day one,&#8221; Quinn said. &#8220;Whether they&#8217;re on the tech, corporate, sales, or research track, they get a full 360 on all our AI tools and all things Salesforce.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparing employees for AI goes beyond just learning how to use it, though. Many workers express worry or guilt about using AI. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/daily-ai-workforce-use-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Salesforce surveys<\/a>, nearly 30% of Gen Z workers say using AI inspires them to ask more questions of their colleagues, compared to only 20% of millennials. A similar percentage are more comfortable using AI to perform work outside their initial skillsets and expertise, such as AI-assisted coding; only 22% of millennials say they&#8217;re comfortable with so-called <a href=\"https:\/\/salesforcecodex.com\/salesforce\/unlock-the-power-of-vibe-coding-in-salesforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8216;vibe coding.&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Older workers who are paired with Gen Z need to tap into the \u201cbeginner&#8217;s mind\u201d of the younger employees and be open to new ways of doing things, added Salesforce Vice President and Global Head of Enterprise Learning Jenny Simmons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Gen Z workers have a different mindset about AI,&#8221; said Simmons. &#8220;They&#8217;ve got a fresh set of eyes and have been operating in the world in a different way than the rest of us.
