This has led to over 100 publications of independent studies in reputed peer-reviewed scientific journals in a short span of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company\u2019s technology allows scientists to suppress gene expression and understand their function, allowing researchers to isolate and identify the causes of diseases or block the harmful effects of genetic mutations. Gene silencing has a wide range of translational and clinical applications, from treating cancers and modulating cholesterol levels to improving the quality of agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a current staff of just a few people, Aishwarya knew if he wanted to compete with industry giants, he needed an edge \u2014 and he found it in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Agentforce<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-too-many-leads-too-few-resources\"><strong>Too many leads, too few resources<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Small biotech companies can\u2019t grow their business by buying ads on Google, LinkedIn, YouTube, or TikTok, Aishwarya explained. When you\u2019re selling a highly specialized, deeply technical product, establishing scientific credibility and making personal connections are key.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is not like selling a $5 coffee mug,\u201d Aishwarya said. \u201cMost customers aren\u2019t going to visit our website and buy premium, high-value products without proper communication. We need to be face to face with scientists, identify their problems, understand their challenges, and provide them highly customized solutions based on their specific research needs. These interactions happen over multiple conversations, sometimes over a period of several months, before they make a purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>This is not like selling a $5 coffee mug.<\/p>\n<cite>Veenu Aishwarya, CEO, AUM BioTech<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>For AUM BioTech, this process starts by exhibiting at international scientific conferences&nbsp; organized by organizations like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aacr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Association for Cancer Research<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ashg.org\/\"> and the <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfn.org\">Society for Neuroscience<\/a>, meeting with scientists and researchers, and collecting their information to follow up later. \u200cThis enables the AUM BioTech team to engage in a productive dialogue with the biomedical research community, understand their problems, and showcase the appropriate solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-media-wrapping-container\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignright is-type-video is-provider-vidyard wp-block-embed-vidyard\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" async src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/embed\/v4.js\"><\/script><img decoding=\"async\"  style=\"width: 100%; margin: auto; display: block;\"  class=\"vidyard-player-embed\"  src=\"https:\/\/play.vidyard.com\/ZKBVDvoAmvmo7oGA85Ldjd.jpg\"  data-uuid=\"ZKBVDvoAmvmo7oGA85Ldjd\"  data-v=\"4\"  data-type=\"inline\"  data-width=\"500\"  data-height=\"187\"\/>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In a typical year, AUM might participate in five to six scientific conferences and meet with as many as 10,000 leads. But with minimal staff, the company wanted an efficient way to automate the process that included filtering those leads, identifying the most promising ones, and reaching out to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reaching out to thousands of potential customers was an ideal task for an intelligent agent \u2013 one that could not only flag the best leads, but also answer basic questions and send detailed information without tying up the company\u2019s tiny technical sales team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Already an enthusiastic user of Salesforce, Aishwarya thought Agentforce, the company\u2019s platform for building and deploying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/digital-labor\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital labor<\/a>, might provide the solution he was looking for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith its search bar and attractive interface, I was a big fan of Agentforce on <a href=\"http:\/\/help.salesforce.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help.salesforce.com<\/a>,\u201d Aishwarya said. \u201cThat really attracted me and motivated me to build my own agent through Salesforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cracking-the-code\"><strong>Cracking the code<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon after, Aishwarya began his agentic journey with Salesforce. At first, learning how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/changing-role-of-developers-with-ai-agents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vibe-code<\/a> an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/ai-agents\/?d=cta-body-promo-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI agent<\/a> was significantly outside the cancer researcher\u2019s comfort zone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t just take AI and start messing around with it,\u201d he said. \u201cYou have to understand how it interacts, and you need to do multiple iterations over an extended period because you\u2019re going to make mistakes. I am still learning every day and improving.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite a lack of coding experience, he had a curious mind. After several months Aishwarya learned to build the entire AUM Biotech website, including lead generation web forms that collected information from users visiting the AUM BioTech website, and an intelligent chatbot for helping customers troubleshoot technical issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, he&#8217;s putting the finishing touches on a <a href=\"https:\/\/help.salesforce.com\/s\/articleView?id=000372706&amp;language=en_US&amp;type=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sales Development Representative (SDR) agent<\/a>, which will allow the company to instantly respond to thousands of leads, score each one, and identify the best candidates for more extensive outreach. The agent will be able to communicate in multiple languages, book meetings on request, and be available 24\/7 in any time zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Higher-priority leads will be handed off directly to human sales reps. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marketing Cloud<\/a> campaigns will nurture prospective leads by crafting customized messages using information collected from trade shows. Ultimately, that one-on-one conversation might turn a cold lead into a warm one.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the past, you might have needed 10 people to reach out to a thousand potential customers, or a hundred people to reach out to 100,000,\u201d he said. \u201cNow one agent, or a team of agents, can do that, and it can make those emails extremely customized. The more personalized we can make that email, the more we can differentiate ourselves from our competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-agentic-advantage\"><strong>The agentic advantage<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aishwarya has been careful to build guardrails into agents to restrict their access to sensitive data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA lot of the things humans do today can be done easily by agents, as long as the data is grounded in your organization\u2019s knowledge base and you have the right governance in place,\u201d he said. \u201cBiotech companies work with very confidential and sensitive data, so maintaining control of the data and having good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/data\/governance\/guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">governance<\/a> is extremely critical.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A lot of the things humans do today can be done easily by agents, as long as the data is grounded in your organization\u2019s knowledge base and you have the right governance in place.<\/p>\n<cite>Veenu Aishwarya, CEO, AUM BioTech<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Aishwarya sees a future where companies like his can scale rapidly with the help of AI, where human employees work side by side with intelligent agents. He says the technology has already helped level the playing field for his company, and the future looks bright.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith proper governance, knowledge, and guardrails in place, agentic AI will enable organizations to accomplish far more than before and in less time. This is just the beginning. I see a future when humans and agents will work together and achieve greater things,\u201d he said. \u201cAs a very small company with ambitious dreams to serve the global biomedical research
