Global Youth Development Organizations and National Park Conservancy Receive More Than $100,000 In Technology and Media Based Grants
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – August 9, 2005 – Salesforce.com/foundation, the leader in integrating philanthropy and business, today announced more than $100,000 in funding to youth development organizations as part of its 2005 grants program. The grants were given to 21 organizations around the world to support teaching young people valuable technology skills through media-based programs. In addition, the foundation provided a two-year mission support grant to San Francisco's Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to support their technology and volunteerism programs.
Salesforce.com/foundation believes that young people have important things to say. These grants were awarded where salesforce.com, its partner company, has a major presence, including the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific. Salesforce.com/foundation sought talented, experienced groups in need of support to get a unique, visionary project off the ground. One of salesforce.com/foundation's philosophies is that technology can be effectively used for social good. To that end, the foundation has announced its inaugural Two-Year Mission Support Grant for youth development organizations to increase their efficacy through technology.
The 2005 Two-Year Mission Support Grant was awarded to Crissy Field of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in San Francisco, CA. The Crissy Field Center provides a wide variety of educational programming and other park-based learning opportunities for young people in the Bay Area. The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy will use its grant to increase the Crissy Field Center's use of technology to better engage and serve Bay Area youth through its wide array of programs. And by employing the expertise of salesforce.com employees, Crissy Field Center will explore and incorporate new technologies, training and systems that promote greater efficiencies, increase the center's reach into diverse communities, reduce waste and improve overall program administration and sustainability.

Recent salesforce.com/foundation activities in San Francisco include an entrepreneur training and internship program for 25 underserved students from the San Francisco Unified School District. In July, more than 500 volunteer hours were given around the globe by over 200 salesforce.com employees.
