Crown Commercial Service signs new Memorandum of Understanding with Salesforce to help accelerate transformation of public services

AUGUST 1, 2022 — Crown Commercial Service has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Salesforce, a leading technology provider, to enable the UK public sector to achieve savings, accelerate the delivery of digital public services and to reduce its dependence on expensive legacy solutions.

Salesforce, which includes Mulesoft, Tableau and Slack is used across all industries, including financial services, retail and manufacturing businesses. Salesforce technologies are now rapidly growing across the UK public sector and around the world.

Salesforce provides public sector organisations with relationship management, case management, collaboration, and powerful analytics, on a rapidly configurable secure low- code platform. This enables public servants to gain a holistic view of citizens preferences, requirements and previous interactions. Salesforce’s cloud technology has been implemented across numerous public sector organisations in the UK and around the world, enabling them to streamline public services, maximise cost effectiveness and, ultimately, improve the citizen experience.

CCS – the UK’s largest public procurement organisation – supports the UK public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2021/22 CCS helped the UK public sector achieve commercial benefits of almost £3 billion – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.

The MOU will make it easier and more cost efficient for the UK public sector to take advantage of Salesforce products and solutions. In turn, this will promote greater choice for the UK public sector, and support the government’s ‘levelling up’ agenda.

The main elements of the MOU are:

  • A discount on licences (Salesforce, Mulesoft, Tableau & Slack) and services for eligible UK public sector bodies, including health bodies

  • Free experimentation projects, so that eligible bodies can test and learn how Salesforce solutions can be used to meet their requirements

  • Direct access to a panel of Salesforce’s SME implementation partners

  • Discounted training and support

  • A discounted trial of Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud, supporting the UK government’s drive towards Net Zero

Philip Orumwense CBE, Commercial Director and Chief Technology Procurement Officer at Crown Commercial Service said “I am delighted that Crown Commercial Service and Salesforce have been able to reach agreement on this MOU. It will allow UK public sector customers to access a competitive baseline of pricing by recognising our aggregated public sector spend; and ensures a cost effective marketplace with access to best of breed solutions for each requirement. The Agreement will further ensure increased collaboration and aggregation of Government and Wider Public Sector spend to achieve increased automation, forecasting, reporting and customer engagement management tools.”

“From vaccine distribution to call centre operations, governments have seen at first-hand the power of what our technology can do for them and their citizens: delivering high quality digital services, driving efficiencies and cost-effectiveness,” said Gavin Patterson, President and Chief Revenue Officer, Salesforce. “At Salesforce we’re delighted that the MOU will support the work of our thriving ecosystem of UK SMEs who provide vital implementation and training support to public bodies. We’re also proud to continue to build on our track record of enabling public service teams to deliver more, faster.”
