Covid 19 Response

What is Salesforce Safety Cloud? A Closer Look

Salesforce launched Safety Cloud to help businesses and communities better manage their testing, health and entry protocols to create safer in-person experiences at events and in the workplace.

Recent data shows that getting people together safely and in-person is imperative to building and maintaining culture, employee retention and satisfaction, and business growth. Testing is a critical aspect of how people safely get together, so to address this need, a robust platform to manage testing capabilities at scale is critical.

Read on for some frequently asked questions about Safety Cloud, how it works, and why Salesforce is prioritizing this solution right now.

Q. What is Safety Cloud?

Building on Salesforce’s own event and workplace experience — and expanding on existing Salesforce health and safety innovations announced in December — Safety Cloud helps businesses and communities better manage their testing and health status verification capabilities and protocols, while automating and streamlining entry into events and workplaces with secure credentials.

Safety Cloud will enable customers to:

  • Build flexible, robust protocols to bring people back together safely at events with evolving COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including testing and vaccine status requirements, identity and registration, and personalized communication journeys as public health guidelines change. For example, a business hosting a large-scale customer event can define and automate testing protocols of attendees — including sending personalized emails about testing requirements and deadlines — ultimately helping to identify positive COVID-19 cases before the event even begins.
  • Streamline COVID-19 testing and health status reporting with agility and security and manage COVID-19 testing and vaccination results across one platform. For example, if first responders test positive for COVID-19 through an integrated testing platform, they no longer need to visit a physical location to verify their COVID-19 health status in-person to get approval for paid leave. With Safety Cloud, their test results are automatically loaded into the platform, enabling better tracking for the availability of other critical workers to ensure adequate staffing is in place in the face of rising COVID-19 rates.
  • Automate workplace entry and combine identification and health status into a Dreampass – a secure, multifactor pass for validated access. In addition, Safety Cloud will enable integrations with SMART Health Cards and EU Digital COVID Certificates, allowing customers to standardize and automate COVID-19 vaccine verification and testing, while removing the antiquated, manual verification process. For example, an HR team focused on getting its employees and contractors back to the workplace safely can now automate entry into a building with a secure digital pass once a negative COVID-19 test result is detected.
Safety Cloud helps businesses and communities better manage their testing, health and entry protocols to create safer in-person experiences at events and in the workplace.

Q. Why is Salesforce offering Safety Cloud?

As testing continues to be a critical aspect of navigating through the pandemic, it’s more important than ever that organizations have a robust platform to manage their COVID-19 testing capabilities at scale. But even after nearly two years, many organizations continue to grapple with flexibly scaling their testing protocols and vaccine verification initiatives to handle the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape without affecting their business operations.

With Safety Cloud, companies of all sizes can harness the latest technology to keep their employees healthy, come together safely, and continue to thrive in this new normal.

Q. Why is Salesforce focused on health & safety?

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Salesforce has worked closely with government, public health and healthcare organizations to support their response, and delivered products and solutions that have met the challenges of the pandemic.

Early on in the pandemic, Salesforce launched, a suite of products and resources to help organizations efficiently scale and manage local and global operations. This included solutions such as the Workplace Command Center, Contact Tracing for Employees, Shift Management, and more.

In December 2020, Salesforce launched Vaccine Cloud to help arm governments, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and education institutions around the world with the technology they needed to quickly scale vaccine operations.

And in February 2022, Salesforce is launching Safety Cloud to help businesses and organizations help bring their customers, employees, and partners back together safely.

Q. What type of organizations can use Safety Cloud?

Developing and executing holistic plans for health and safety is a priority for every organization, regardless of size or industry. That is exactly what Safety Cloud is designed to do.

Q. How many tests and vaccines have you verified through the Safety Cloud platform? How have you used this technology at Salesforce?

Salesforce has used different aspects of Safety Cloud to deliver safe and in-person events like Dreamforce in San Francisco and New York as well as celebratory and office-based events. To date, Salesforce has administered more than 21,500 COVID-19 tests and verified 8,000 vaccination credentials, bringing together more than 4,500 attendees together safely for company-sponsored events Dreamforce SF and NYC.

Q. How is Safety Cloud different from Vaccine Cloud?

Safety Cloud is an evolution, the next stage in Salesforce’s health and safety efforts during the pandemic.

Initially, Vaccine Cloud was about getting shots in arms and helping organizations to equitably distribute the vaccine at a global scale.

Safety Cloud is focused on helping businesses and communities better manage their testing and health protocols, while automating and streamlining secure entry into events and workplaces. In addition, with Safety Cloud, Salesforce is supporting integrations with a full spectrum of different testing options starting with eMed, ixLayer, Senneca, Cue Health, and CVS Health. These ubiquitous provider options span at-home testing options (e.g. proctored antigen tests), in-home testing appliances, local CVS pharmacy visits, on-site testing, and VIP white glove services. Any of these supported testing options can be connected directly to Safety Cloud, making the testing experience easier than ever.

  • Safety Cloud centralizes testing and COVID-19 health status in a single console.
  • Safety Cloud dashboard for centralizing identification and registration data.
  • Dreampass – Salesforce’s secure, multifactor pass for validated access
