{"id":65035,"date":"2022-09-12T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/?p=65035"},"modified":"2022-11-30T20:53:23","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T20:53:23","slug":"salesforce-equality-report-q3-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/uk\/news\/stories\/salesforce-equality-report-q3-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Quarterly Equality Update: Connection Pushes Us Closer to Our Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over the past few months, we\u2019ve had so many great opportunities for the Salesforce community to connect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, we came together to recognize <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/building-black-futures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Juneteenth<\/a>. We also celebrated our LGBTQ+ community during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/out-at-work-salesforce-employees-celebrate-pride-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pride<\/a> month \u2014 our theme, \u201cUnstoppable Together\u201d was truly on display as we marched in Barcelona, Dublin, Mexico City, and the U.S.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July, we celebrated our global Indigenous community with our WINDforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/equality\/equality-groups\/\">Equality Group<\/a>, and in August, our Genforce Equality Group led conversations on the importance of empowering and unifying people from all generations. This month, we\u2019re excited to come together as we honor and celebrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/hispanic-heritage-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Latinx &amp; Hispanic Heritage Month<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we can\u2019t talk about these positive moments without recognizing the ongoing crises that continue to create uncertainty for so many. From the ongoing war in Ukraine, to the global economic outlook, to the infringement of safety and rights for women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. These moments require a focus on deepening our connections to one another and taking action that helps further our goals of greater equality for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-becoming-the-most-inclusive-company\">Becoming the most inclusive company<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our goal is to become the most inclusive company \u2014 not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it leads to increased innovation and better results. That\u2019s why we are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/annual-equality-update-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reimagining our systems and processes<\/a>, approaching equality from a global lens, and making policy changes to better support our employees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This quarter, we announced a new representation goal of reaching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-women-non-binary-hiring-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">40% women-identifying and non-binary employees globally<\/a> by the end of 2026. This goal goes hand-in-hand with our existing <a href=\"http:\/\/equality.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">representation goals<\/a>, and will help us stay focused on accelerating representation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hard work of many people working all across Salesforce to reach these goals has paid off. In February, we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/annual-equality-update-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">met our goal of reaching 50% underrepresented groups in the U.S.<\/a> a year early, and we just<strong> met another goal early, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-women-non-binary-hiring-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>doubling U.S. representation<\/strong><\/a><strong> of Black leadership (VP and above) since 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that representation is not only about hiring, but also about the employee experience, which we are deeply focused on. To become the most inclusive company, we\u2019ll continue listening to our people and taking action to offer meaningful support. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-salesforce-supports-its-people\">How Salesforce supports its people<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our People programs continue to have a measurable impact on the employee experience, as well as on employee growth and development at Salesforce. This quarter, we have made progress across a number of programs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\u2019re continuing to provide employees with <strong>critical benefits <\/strong>\u2013 from travel and relocation support for reproductive healthcare to expanded financial and emotional support for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/blog\/gender-inclusive-benefits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gender-affirming care<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>Warmline<\/strong>, an employee advocacy program that connects employees to advocates who help them navigate pivotal career moments, has continued providing employees with support \u2014 delivering strong impact. We are planning to scale a successful Warmline pilot that connected advocates with Account Executives. <strong>Among AEs who participated in the pilot we saw a 33% greater quota attainment <\/strong>versus AEs who did not participate in the Warmline cohort. Account Executives are among the groups at Salesforce with a distinct need for help navigating their careers toward better outcomes. Of all employees who\u2019ve connected with the Warmline, 92% say they would use it again, and 96% would recommend it to others.<\/li><li>Our <strong>Equality Business Partners,<\/strong> strategists who serve as trusted advisors to business leaders, are <strong>working to accelerate equality<\/strong>, especially in our people processes. The impact of this work shows up when <strong>leaders are empowered to embed inclusion in their decision-making<\/strong> broadly, from talent processes to how they manage teams.<\/li><li>Our <strong>Equality Groups<\/strong> continue to be the center of our work, as they continue to create regular opportunities for members and allies to engage on the most important issues impacting our communities. In Q2, we launched our 13th Equality Group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/equality\/equality-groups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Salesforce Parents and Families (SPF)<\/a>. This new employee resource group is a place for parents and caregivers to share experiences, seek advice, and give support.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-salesforce-delivers-for-its-communities\">Salesforce delivers for its communities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to championing our employees, we also continue to support our communities by taking action toward greater <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/company\/equality\/racial-equality-justice-taskforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">racial equality and justice<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-philanthropy\">Philanthropy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\u2019re continuing our focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-giving-second-quarter-fy23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">philanthropic giving<\/a>, with <strong>$117 million and 390,000 volunteer hours<\/strong> donated to organizations advancing racial equality and justice since 2020. In Q2, we focused on supporting younger, smaller organizations to help grow and scale their innovative work. We also <strong>announced the first donations from the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-catalyst-fund-announcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Salesforce Catalyst Fund<\/strong><\/a>, which provides unrestricted capital to nonprofits led by people of color.<\/li><li>Since 2020, we\u2019ve also <strong>delivered over $2.55M in pro bono services aligned with <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/inequality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Slack for Good<\/strong> advanced its mission to increase the number of underrepresented individuals in the tech sector through three key projects aimed at creating career opportunities for the formerly incarcerated:&nbsp;<ul><li><strong>Slack expanded the Next Chapter apprenticeship program to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/blog\/news\/next-chapter-expands-to-14-companies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>14 hiring partners<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It also <a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/blog\/news\/slack-and-the-aspen-institute-collaborate-to-help-formerly-incarcerated-individuals-build-careers-in-tech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collaborated<\/a> with the Aspen Institute to build on Next Chapter\u2019s success and bring it to additional companies.<\/li><li>Slack launched the<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/slack.com\/blog\/news\/home-free-documentary-shines-a-light-on-re-entry-barriers-for-formerly-incarcerated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>trailer<\/strong><\/a><strong> for a powerful documentary film on the re-entry barriers faced by formerly incarcerated narrated by John Legend.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><li>And, Slack donated $300,000 to seven organizations supporting underrepresented groups last quarter.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-purchasing\">Purchasing<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Because of the intentional ways we\u2019re spending with Black-owned and minority-founded businesses, <strong>we are on target to increase our minority business spend in 2022 by 25% year-over-year \u2014 for the second year in a row. <\/strong>We have reached more than 70% of our goal of $100 million in spending with Black-owned businesses. Additionally, through Salesforce Ventures, we have exceeded our goal of investing more than $100 million in Black and URM-led companies since the launch of the taskforce and are on track to increase our overall number of Black and URM founders by more than 3x by 2023.<\/li><li>Since 2020, 513 small business suppliers have participated in our Net15 Accelerated Pay Program, with <strong>$191 million in accelerated payments helping to address critical cash flow challenges for small businesses.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-policy\">Policy<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Salesforce joined a coalition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfa.us\/civics-secures-democracy-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> in support of the <strong>Civics Secures Democracy Act pending in Congress.<\/strong> This bipartisan legislation would provide a significant federal investment in K\u201312 civic education and provide the resources necessary for teacher professional development, curricular materials, and student programming.<\/li><li>We continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/news\/stories\/salesforce-employee-voting-involvement-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">encourage our U.S. employees to sign up<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.powerthepolls.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Power to the Polls<\/a> to be a nonpartisan poll worker in upcoming elections, and offer Volunteer Time Off for this crucial work. For Vote Early Day on Sept. 12, we&#8217;re encouraging employees to cast their votes early. On Sept. 19, National Voter Registration Day, we&#8217;ll encourage employees to register, if they aren&#8217;t already, and get out the word to others to do the same.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are committed to driving systemic change in our workplace and communities through action, advocacy, and continued dialogue.
