But there\u2019s one change people don&#8217;t want to see: doctors replaced with AI. That\u2019s according to Salesforce\u2019s <em>Pulse of the Patient Snapshot<\/em>, which surveyed more than 1,400 adults in the U.S. and revealed that 69% of them are uncomfortable with healthcare companies using AI to diagnose them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, people haven&#8217;t ruled out AI entirely. More than half of respondents are comfortable with AI in nonclinical use cases, such as scheduling appointments and estimating medical expenses. This indicates an opportunity for healthcare organizations to focus on using AI in areas that free up physicians to spend more time with their patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why it matters:<\/strong> According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athenahealth.com\/press-releases\/us-physicians-surveyed-feel-burned-out-on-a-regular-basis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Athenahealth survey<\/a>, more than 90% of U.S. physicians report feeling burned out on a \u201cregular basis,\u201d especially by overwhelming administrative workloads, reduced staffing, and rising patient expectations. AI can help alleviate the burden of paperwork, clerical requirements, and other nonclinical tasks that have piled up over the years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Salesforce perspective: <\/strong>\u201cAI won\u2019t replace doctors, it will \u200caugment them. People highly value and trust the personal relationship with their doctors, and AI should be seen as a tool to enhance and support that relationship, rather than a substitute. They also seek information across a wider variety of sources \u2014&nbsp;for example, they\u2019re more likely to use generative AI, social media, and health apps compared to older generations.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"tableau-viz-embed-container \">\n\t<tableau-viz\n\t\tclass=\"tableau-viz-embed\"\n\t\tsrc=\"https:\/\/public.tableau.com\/views\/TopHealthcareInformationSources\/Embed1?:language=en-US&#038;:sid=&#038;:display_count=n&#038;:origin=viz_share_link\"\n\t\ttoolbar=\"hidden\"\n\t\thide-tabs\n\t><\/tableau-viz>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGen Z\u2019s reliance on multiple channels for healthcare information is one to watch due to the growing threat of misinformation. However, it also presents an opportunity for healthcare organizations to effectively market trusted information across these channels, rather than focusing on just physicians,\u201d said Khanna.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-people-are-unclear-on-ai-s-role-in-healthcare-but-know-it-will-have-an-impact\"><strong>People are unclear on AI&#8217;s role in healthcare \u2014 but know it will have an impact<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When it comes to understanding AI&#8217;s role in healthcare, only 10% of U.S. adults say they have a good understanding of its use in patient health scenarios. The lack of understanding may affect people\u2019s level of trust in AI in healthcare and reveals an opportunity for education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>47% of respondents believe AI will have a major impact on the health system overall over the next five years, but far fewer (29%) think it will have the same impact on their own patient experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lower-income respondents are even less likely to feel AI will have an impact on their experiences: 24% feel AI will have a major impact on their patient experiences, compared to 40% of high-income respondents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<aside
