Slack home to every part of your business, including the Microsoft 365 suite. That’s why 76% of Slack users bring Microsoft Teams into Slack to facilitate meetings and calls where work happens.
While Microsoft Teams is a strong tool for meetings, messaging and basic communication, modern work requires much more to close deals, manage incidents and run effective campaigns. Customers choose Slack to be their multiplayer work operating system because it’s where AI works, beyond just messages and calls.
| slack__table--feature | slack__table--slack | slack__table--teams |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce Record Access | Full conversational interface — view, update, and act on Salesforce records in real time, directly in channels and DMs. | Basic record search only; record editing limited to desktop version. |
| AI Grounded in CRM data | Slackbot is natively connected to Salesforce — summaries, answers, and actions are grounded in your actual customer data. | Copilot is generic with no native Salesforce context; requires switching interfaces to access. |
| Agentforce & AI Agents | Agentforce agents deploy seamlessly across all channel types with full Salesforce context built in. Slackbot hands off tasks to agents with delegation capabilities. | Requires Copilot license and IT configuration; custom agents not supported in all channel types. |
| CRM Automation | Native Workflow Builder automates Salesforce actions (like updating opportunities or routing cases) with no code, and no extra license. | Requires Microsoft Power Automate; workflows may not be supported across all Salesforce-connected apps. |
| Sales & Service Collaboration | Unlimited channels mean a dedicated space for every deal, case, or account, with Salesforce data embedded in Salesforce channels. Automatically spin up channels around Salesforce objects, including incidents, cases, accounts, records, and more. | Capped at 1,000 channels; no native Salesforce data surface in channel. |
| App Integrations | Slack integrates with over 2,600 apps, which are supported consistently across channel types. | Many apps are not supported across all channel types. Apps are pinned in tabs, hiding data and forcing you to toggle. |
| Customer & Partner Collaboration | Slack Connect extends your Salesforce workspace securely to customers and partners with full feature support. | Requires complex Microsoft Entra B2B configuration; not all features supported externally. |
| Salesforce Data Search | Enterprise search is built in and pulls from Salesforce records, conversations, files, and connected apps in plain language. | Requires complex and limited integrations set up by IT; can't search Salesforce records natively. |
Slack pulls all your Microsoft apps into one place and connects them to Salesforce and every other tool you need (Workday, Figma, Jira, and the rest), creating a unified, context-rich platform that makes your AI smarter, helps your people move faster, and saves you from scrambling to stitch all your work together.

Slack is designed to work natively with your Salesforce CRM data, so Salesforce customers get a deeper out-of-the-box connection than Teams can offer as a third-party integration. With Slack, Salesforce records, workflows, and automations live directly inside channels and DMs. Updates on deals, cases, and accounts show up where people are already talking instead of requiring separate tabs, connectors, or manual syncing.
The answer here is Slack. Because Slack and Salesforce share the same parent platform, Salesforce data can surface directly in channels, with real-time record updates, approvals, and notifications built in natively. Teams relies on Microsoft Graph connectors and third-party add-ons to pull in Salesforce context, which means more configuration and less consistency across features.
Agentforce is built to run natively in Slack, letting agents take action, answer questions, and complete workflows using live Salesforce data right inside your conversations. Teams can access some Salesforce AI capabilities only through separate integrations or bots, which don't carry the same native depth, permissions model, or breadth of actions that Agentforce has in Slack.
Slack offers transparent per-user plans, and its AI capabilities (like AI in Slack and Agentforce) are available as clear add-ons rather than being bundled into a larger suite. Teams’ AI features are often tied to broader Microsoft 365 Copilot licensing, which can mean higher costs and less flexibility.
There’s more than meets the eye when it comes to working in Slack. Read on to see how your teams can do more with a multiplayer workspace.
Microsoft Teams keeps your meetings and Sharepoint files organized. Slack keeps your entire business moving. As the work operating system built with specific Salesforce workflows in mind, Slack connects your people, your CRM data, and your AI agents in one open workspace.
Teams can show you a calendar invite. Slack can show you the full customer picture behind it. With Salesforce natively embedded in Slack, your team updates records, surfaces opportunities, and drives CRM adoption right in the flow of work.
Already using Microsoft 365? Slack is the only collaboration platform that deeply integrates Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and every other tool your business runs on — including your AI agents — so nothing works in isolation.
With robust search, customizable automation, and built-in AI tools, Slack makes productivity practically a given for your team.
Search in Teams scans files and messages shared only in specific channels spits out a list – it’s up to you to figure out the context. Enterprise search in Slack finds solutions. Searching across connected apps, Slack pulls from your Salesforce records, Microsoft 365 files, apps, and team conversations. It responds in plain language, so your team spends less time hunting and more time doing.
Microsoft Copilot lives next to your work. AI in Slack is embedded inside it. Because Slack is natively connected to Salesforce, its AI has the full business context — your customer data, your team conversations, your live records — to give answers that are actually useful, not just plausible.
Teams workflows are built on top of Power Automate, a great tool, but quite technical. Slack workflows can automate work across your entire business, including the Salesforce ecosystem. Any employee can build and automate across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and every connected app — no coding, no IT tickets, no waiting.

Before Slack, decisions got lost across email and Teams conversations. Now, context lives in channels — searchable, connected to the record, and tied to the workflow. We move faster because the information our teams and AI need is always right there.

We think of Slack as the connective layer across our ecosystem. Microsoft 365 remains foundational, and Slack complements that by bringing coordination and visibility into the flow of work — each playing to its strengths.

Before Slack, we used Microsoft Teams to communicate, but everything was fragmented. Work wasn't well documented, and project management relied on manual Gantt charts stored in Teams folders.
