Storage Innovation at Salesforce
Salesforce builds and operates a number of different internal storage services in order to provide the performance, scale, and operational characteristics necessary to support the Salesforce applications. In this talk, we will provide an overview of design, architecture, and evolution of three different storage services - FileForce, and two internal services named Blob Store and SFStore. Each of them has different characteristics and tradeoffs. In this talk you will learn about the architecture and use cases, as well as some of the challenges we have had to overcome, in order to build and operate cloud-scale storage services with the security, availability, and durability that our engineers and customers expect. You will also learn how we make use of open source technologies such as BookKeeper and ZooKeeper.
