Design Justification & Objection Handling for Architects

Design Justification & Objection Handling for Architects

Designing a solution is only one part of an Architect's role. Like the best products in the world, a great solution design is only useful if it can be effectively communicated to the stakeholders. This is usually a varied group of people from financial decision makers to IT professional with experience in other technologies. These groups might have conflicting priorities and opinions, so it is up to the Architect to bring everyone to a shared position. In this panel session, experienced Architects will share their experiences of justifying their designs and the objections they have faced. They will give examples of where they have seen this type of communication done well, and give recommendations on how to communicate ideas and handle those harder conversations. This session will give an insight into the skills you need to develop in addition to the knowledge you will require from the pyramid. It will prompt you to reflect on your own experiences and similar situations you have encountered. The mix of experience will show that they are common themes; however, there is no one-size-fits-all way to approach this aspect of the role.
