Using Salesforce to Build a Comprehensive Learner Record
Georgetown is dedicated to Cura Personalis or developing and caring for the whole person. The Georgetown learning environment is rich with co-curricular learning and advising opportunities. The connections students make, the skills students acquire, and the learning experiences in which students engage that are not captured on the transcript are often times what shapes students’ development the most and are what ties them most closely to their alma mater. At Georgetown University, we are using Hoya360 and utilizing the power of Salesforce Lightning Communities to capture, not just information vital for future career development, but also these connections, skill acquisitions, and non-transcript based experiential learning activities to assist students in tracking and understanding their personal and academic growth as they develop into successful, resilient changemakers in service to others. Through collaborations of students, faculty and academic staff, we are prototyping combinations of institutional data, student-inputs, recommendations from advisors, employers and mentors, to create a record of what experiences have had the critical impacts on each student’s experience. This integrated learning record will allow students to reflect upon their areas of skills and need for growth, be able to better make meaning of their developmental journey, and serve as a starting point for as they build CVs, graduate school applications, job applications and tell their story in more meaningful and impactful ways.
