There’s No Place Like Home

By John Durocher

100,000. “What’s that?” you might ask. The approximate number of miles I’ve flown this year.

My role often requires me to travel to meet our customers in-person. It also means I’ve been able to visit several of our incredible hubs across the country. As much as I love our Ohana — in and out of the Boston, Burlington, and Cambridge (BBC) area — I can confidently say there is no place like home. After each trip, I’m delighted to come back to our office on Boylston Street. I’m proud of our teams and their ability to rise to any occasion or challenge that may present itself. Their grit and tenacity, truly, are second to none. Not only that, it’s an award-winning mentality.

With that said, I’m honored to announce that we’ve been named one of the Top Places to Work in 2019 by The Boston Globe.

Last year, you heard from me, but this year I want you to hear from the heart of our BBC hub - our people. There are so many incredible people in this organization, and hearing their stories of triumphs and overcoming failures inspires me to be better.

“Salesforce is a company with a soul.” — Sira. C, Success Manager - Director, Healthcare & Life Sciences

I love having the opportunity to pursue my passion for volunteering while simultaneously helping our customers succeed. During the last few years, I've had the pleasure of leading several BBC VTO events with the non-profit organization, Junior Achievement, teaching entrepreneurial skills to K-12 students. Through our Build A Lemonade Stand Trail on Trailhead, we've been able to teach students how to build an app. It's incredible to see how we're able to expose local students to new opportunities. Thus far, we've trained close to 1000 student Trailblazers.

“The most rewarding part of my job is the opportunity to give back.” — Vanessa C., Associate Technical Evangelist

The most rewarding part of my job is the opportunity to give back to my community. Through our Pro Bono Program at Salesforce, I’ve had the chance to give back to the Jewish community and enable community leaders on the Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack. I also had the chance to build an app catered to Jewish organizations, which is now published on AppExchange. For me, that is the biggest win-win, to help out, enable others, learn more, and then be able to scale a solution.

“I can continue to give my all at work while expecting my first child because of the support and flexibility provided by my team.” — Tanvi. D., Product Management Senior Manager

My husband and I are expecting our first child. Throughout my pregnancy, my entire team has been incredibly helpful. They’ve supported me on days when I couldn’t get out of the bed and make it into the office. They make sure I don’t forget to eat breakfast or lunch while I’m working throughout the day. I can continue to give my all at work while expecting my first child because of the support and flexibility provided by my team. I’m truly grateful for my Commerce Cloud family!

We all love Salesforce for various reasons - the opportunity to give back, professional development, the ability to make an impact and the sense of family. However, at the core of it all, we love Salesforce BBC because it’s home to us. It’s this sense of home that has earned us recognition by The Boston Globe as a Top Place to Work in 2019!
