How Our Culture Champions Help Make Us a Top Workplace in Dallas

Salesforce Dallas is one of the top 100 places to work 2 years in a row

Salesforce has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Places to Work in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the second year in a row by The Dallas Morning News!

Last year, I wrote about all the incredible things that happened in our hub to commemorate our first workplace recognition. Fast-forward to the present day and there are some noticeable changes. Because of the pandemic, we’re no longer working in our brand-new office in Uptown or hanging in the social lounge discussing how awesome World Tour Dallas or Dreamforce was. Despite these changes, I’m proud of how we’ve been able to reimagine how we stay connected and preserve our award-winning culture.

At Salesforce Dallas there’s no shortage of culture champions that go the extra mile to bring a sense of community, camaraderie, and excitement to the workday. However, I want to recognize a particular group of employees that have gone above and beyond during this transitional phase - our Equality Group members.

At Salesforce, our Equality Groups are employee-led organizations to support our underrepresented communities. Each group has its own mission and initiatives but they all rally behind one central community - Salesforce. This year, we’ve needed them more than ever through unprecedented economic, hunger, health, climate and racial inequality crises. Here are a few ways they’ve encouraged our local hub and supported the Dallas community over the last several months.

Encouraging Tough Conversations

As a company, we are led by our core value of Equality and we stand as allies to all those impacted by racism, violence, and hate. In August, our Dallas Equality Council and leaders from Asiapacforce and BOLDforce hosted a 90-minute workshop where they identified the key stages of developing a relationship to anti-racism, anti-bias, and discussed the role each of us plays in moving it forward. We’ve discovered that conversations like this can be tough but they are critical in our continued path toward Equality for All.

Giving Back to Schools

Keeping a pulse on the local community and their needs has been essential to our ability to be impactful with our giving. Upon hearing that a local elementary school had significantly reduced their library after providing students with books to read during quarantine, employees quickly rallied to create a plan to get books back onto the shelves. Latinoforce raised $1,200 and purchased 100 books to replenish the library at J.H. Florence Elementary School just in time to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.

Friendly Competition for a Cause

Recently, several of our Equality Groups competed against one another in a month-long food drive organized and administered by The Pack Shack, a local 501(c)(3) organization that helps to feed the local community. Before the pandemic, The Pack Shack hosted engaging Feed the Funnel parties to pack thousands of meals for local nonprofits. Our teams raised $5,356 for the distribution of peanut butter and canned tuna to 5 local food banks. Abilityforce and Salesforce Women’s Network came in first place and won the overall competition. However, the true winners were those that we were able to support with our donation - CitySquare Food Pantry, Fort Worth Hope Center, IACC Food Bank, Little Elm Area Food Bank, and Minnie's Pantry.

Keeping it Fun with a Costume Contest

Outforce hosted a virtual costume contest for Halloween. Employees and their families were invited to join in on the fun and compete for the most coveted superlatives around town - Most Creative, Spookiest/Scariest, Best Group Family/Pet, and Best 2020 Representative. Lately, we’ve been more intentional than ever in ensuring that we’re creating engaging events that the entire family can enjoy while being safe at home.

It’s been an interesting year filled with the unexpected but it’s also been a year filled with incredible memories with my Salesforce colleagues. I’m proud of the work done by our Equality Groups and Dallas Leadership Council to strengthen and evolve our culture. It’s our goal that our hub continues to be a place where employees are empowered to be their authentic selves and to do the best work of their careers. Creating a great culture is a never-ending journey but earning back-to-back workplace recognitions from the Dallas Morning News shows that we’re on the right path!
