We've developed IT support agents for a client to manage tier-one questions in a Slack channel, reducing the volume of human touchpoints and increasing the overall speed to resolution.

At Writer, we understand that embedding agents in the flow of work will transform employee productivity. Slack's conversational data combined with structured, enterprise data adds context that makes agents more intelligent, and better at taking action.

You go to a single, conversational interface in Slack and you can interact with humans and AI. Agents are doing the work, and we’ve dreamt of that for decades in computing, and now we’re finally seeing it.

Running agents at the speed of an API requires rigid architectural guardrails. Agentforce in Slack is secure by design: Every interaction operates natively inside your existing security perimeter, inheriting user permissions, sharing parameters, and access rules. Additionally, your customer data is never used to train large language models.

Agentforce agents can be deployed to Slack by building them in Salesforce's Agent Builder, configuring the Slack channel as a deployment surface, and publishing the agent — which makes it available as a Slack App users can @mention or message directly. You'll need the Agentforce for Slack managed package installed and proper permissions set in both Salesforce and Slack. Once deployed, agents can take actions in channels, DMs or simply through asking Slackbot.
Agentforce in Slack is unique because it combines trusted CRM data, rich conversational context, enterprise governance, and an open, interoperable platform — all inside the app where work already happens.
To enable Agentforce in Slack, a Salesforce admin must first create an agent connection in Salesforce (via Setup → Agents → Connections) and select Slack as the Connected App. Once the connection is saved and activated, a Slack owner or admin installs the agent by navigating to Admin → Manage Agentforce, selecting the agent, and assigning it to the appropriate workspaces. Members without a Salesforce account will need a provisional license, so coordinate with your Salesforce AE before rolling it out.
Agentforce agents are specialized, custom agents that run complex, autonomous workflows across any surface — including Salesforce lightning, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, websites, and channels like SMS and WhatsApp. Multiple end users can interact with Agentforce in public channels simultaneously in Slack. Agentforce is built to be both customer-facing and employee-facing.
Slackbot is a personal AI agent that lives natively only in Slack with all of your business context from day one. The conversations you have with Slackbot are one-on-one and personal to you. It automates workflows with skills and handles work end-to-end for employees. It also works with Agentforce by acting as the orchestrator of work, so you don’t need to remember which agent has which skills to complete your task — simply ask Slackbot, and it works behind the scenes with Agentforce to return a response and execute tasks from a single conversational window.
Your customer data is never used to train large language models. LLM providers do not have access to customer data, and the models are run within Salesforce’s trust boundary, ensuring that your data stays secure.
You can access Agentforce in Slack with both an Agentforce and a Slack license. Talk to an expert to learn more.
Bring Agentforce agents into Slack and transform individual tasks into team execution.
When an Agentforce agent executes a task or posts a business update in public Slack channels and threads, the entire team can monitor the agent’s work, verify its data sources, and collectively steer the next steps out in the open.
Run Sales, Service, Marketing, and other core CRM agents natively in chat. Ask them to update pipeline, triage cases, and optimize campaigns without opening separate apps.
Scale custom employee agents for IT, HR, engineering, and more. Task them to handle tickets, check policies, and share results right in your channels.
With Slackbot as the front door to Agentforce, you don't need to know which specialized agent to invoke. Just type a request, and Slackbot handles the rest.
Route tasks to your entire agent stack from a single chat window — instead of forcing teams to search through a maze of separate agent interfaces.
Slackbot interprets your request in plain language and instantly loops in the right specialized backend subagent or action library to tackle the job.
Maintain conversational history across multi-step automation. Slackbot delivers the final reviewable results directly back to your active thread.
Equip your agents with custom enterprise skills using a low-code builder that combines reasoning with control.
Equip agents with ready-made skills to update canvases, manage channel memberships, search files, and send direct messages once prompted.
Speed up deployment with out-of-the-box agent blueprints optimized for internal helpdesks, support intake, and onboarding workflows.
Link agents directly to Salesforce Flows, Apex code, and MuleSoft APIs to safely execute backend system updates without custom integration code.
