At Salesforce, we focus on providing an inclusive screening and interview process that allows us to assess the people we hire based on skill set and potential. We value hiring people whose personal values align with our company values, while also adding something unique to our teams.

Match your skills and interests to jobs you're excited about and the problems you want to solve. Candidates have greater success when their experience strongly matches our job requirements. We like curiosity and courage, but it can be confusing when people apply for vastly different jobs at the same time. For example, if you apply for both a manager level and VP level role we have a hard time gauging your experience level. Try to be consistent and true to your experience and the requirements listed in the job description when applying for roles.

Focus on your resume and how you frame your achievements:

  • Align your skills and experience with the job description.
  • Be specific about projects you’ve worked on or managed and include success metrics.
  • If you've had a leadership role, tell us about the size of the team and cross-functional relationships you've built.
  • If you're a recent university graduate or have limited work experience, include school-related projects or coursework that demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Keep it short: If there’s additional information (like a portfolio) we need during the hiring process, your recruiter will work with you to collect it.


Applications are read by real humans who are both experts in interpreting resumes and are familiar with our jobs within a talent segment—not just the one you applied for. This allows recruiters to route candidates across organizations. If our recruiters find a potential match, they’ll schedule a call to learn more about your skills and experience. Bring your questions—this is an opportunity to learn more about potential roles and our chance to learn more about you.

In addition to recruiter review of resumes, our applicant tracking system also allows your profile to be discovered for any number of current and future job openings that might be a fit based on key words, so even if the role you applied for isn't the right match today - we may contact you regarding another role right away or as new opportunities open up.

Please note that your application is important to us. While we would like to be able to connect with every applicant, we regret that the volume of applications on a global scale does not always allow our team to make personal contact with everyone that applies.


Our competencies-based interviewing process is intended to help us minimize unconscious bias while also making sure we hire people who will thrive in our environment. We rigorously train our hiring managers and teams to recognize unconscious bias through required online training called “Cultivate Equality at Work,” and we also give them the tools to interview on competencies we know people need to have to be successful in the various roles here. We do this because we know that diversity of backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences makes our teams stronger and helps us deliver more innovative products and better customer experiences. Check out our report on The Impact of Equality and Values Driven Business.

We ask candidates to describe the type of projects they worked on, the scale of those projects, what collaboration was involved as well as the outcome. We also want to know about your passions outside of work, especially related to giving back to your community. We always ask: why do you want to work for Salesforce?

Many of our teams have detailed interview processes that allow us to gain a deeper understanding of your skill set. For example, if you're interviewing for sales you'll be asked to present your pitch, or if you're interviewing in tech you may be asked to complete a coding challenge on HackerRank. If you're selected, and the fit and timing are right on your end as well, stay in close touch with your recruiter who will walk you through the proposed details of the offer. With your verbal acceptance, your recruiter will route the official written offer through our system, and you will be able to review it and sign electronically via DocuSign. Please note, your hiring manager does not execute the offer process, so you'll need to stay in close contact with your recruiter during this period.

At Salesforce, we conduct an ongoing compensation analysis to ensure we are market competitive when it comes to compensation packages offered at time of hire and beyond. Because we are growing so quickly (both organically and through acquisitions), equal pay is a moving target, so we complete annual audits to makes sure everyone is being paid equitably. 


We want to take the guesswork out of your onboarding process! Your manager will be working with you to select your desired hardware and software, and you'll be automatically enrolled in essential trainings for Day 1 and beyond. We'll even pair you up with a special "Trail Guide" handpicked by your manager to provide you with additional guidance, support, and coaching during your first 90 days at Salesforce. This, along with customized onboarding email journey that starts before you arrive and continues through your first year, will provide you with the information and resources you need to succeed.
