Salesforce.com recognized for its technology disruption and
ability to bring its vision for The Business Web to reality
Wins in-depth evaluation over Microsoft and 80 other companies
SAN FRANCISCO - May 14, 2007 - Salesforce.com [NYSE: CRM],
the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, today announced it has been
awarded the 2007 Steppin' Out Award from BPT Partners, a leader in CRM training and education,
consulting and research. Salesforce.com won for its disruption to the technology ecosystem and its
ability to capitalize on its vision for The Business Web. Based on a comparative evaluation
of 81 companies, Salesforce.com was designated the winner after an in-depth analysis of six
finalists including Microsoft.
"This award not only recognizes our contributions to the technology industry to date, but the
impact of our vision for The Business Web and our ability to accomplish it through the strength of
our organization," said Marc Benioff, Chairman and CEO of salesforce.com. "It's an honor to
win an award based on the realization of our vision for enabling our customers to manage and share
all of their information on demand, and for the pace at which we are bringing new technology
innovations to them."
"Salesforce.com won not only because they are able to dominate a market, but can create
markets at extraordinary speed," said Paul Greenberg, Chief Customer Officer of BPT and author of
the best-selling book, CRM at the Speed of Light. "Salesforce.com was the last major
disruptor of the technology ecosystem. They have been able to execute on their strategies and
identify the trends that the customers of the present and future are driving - and then develop the
institutional presence to capture the business opportunities. No one else did it as well. We
applaud salesforce.com for their award."
According to the award, "salesforce.com has a vision and worldview fully integrated into its
strategy and its product and services map." The company has been "consistent in maintaining
their strategy to become an agnostic platform and be the ubiquitous technology and architecture for
what it calls The Business Web." Specifically, the award calls out salesforce.com's
continuous innovations that are fueling its market impact, including the AppExchange, the
AppExchange Incubator program, AppSpace, CampaignForce, IdeaExchange, and Salesforce Platform
