Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA) is making history at Dreamforce this year, as the first Australian nonprofit to take the stage at the Nonprofit Keynote, showcasing how an early adopter is putting agentic AI directly into the hands of frontline practitioners.
In a sector where technology spend is constrained by funding and capacity pressures, RASA spent years building the foundations to support digital transformation.
- defining its practice
- establishing its own minimum data set
- building a consistent client journey across a multi-service organisation
All of this happened before agentic AI was even on the table.
That groundwork is now paying dividends. Just ten months after going live on Salesforce’s Nonprofit Cloud, RASA is already using Agentforce to give practitioners a concise, permission-bound briefing ahead of client appointments, which is freeing up time for care, strengthening judgement, and cutting down time spent searching records.
“Agentic AI has shown us the value of getting the foundations right first,” said Joanna Retnam, COO of RASA. “We had already done the work to define our practice, establish a minimum data set, and create consistency across our client journeys. By reflecting those decisions in our technology and staying close to the standard platform, we’ve been able to take advantage of new Agentforce capabilities as they emerge, without having to rebuild the environment around them.”
“We were ready for agentic AI before we knew we were ready,” Retnam added. “Having a partner like AlphaSys that understands both the technology and the realities of our community work helped us identify where it could genuinely add value, without sending us down a rabbit hole.”
RASA’s story is a signal to the sector: the agentic AI race is won long before deployment, in the governance, data and process decisions made well before the first agent goes live.
