Salesforce Launches Agentforce for Public Sector to take on time-consuming government work
Salesforce moves to new Canberra office to expand presence and support public sector innovation and customer success
The Global AI Readiness Index has ranked Australia seventh out of 16 countries, recognising the adoption of forward-leaning AI governance approaches and AI pilots across public services. Salesforce has also announced Agentforce for Public Sector, and the move to a new Canberra office to support government innovation and customer success.
The Index was commissioned by Salesforce and developed by AI Policy Lab and Access Partnerships. The top ranked countries including the United States, Singapore, and United Kingdom all were commended for their institutional coordination, advanced digital infrastructure, active engagement from both public and private sectors in AI adoption and the diffusion of emerging technology.
In comparison, while Australia rated well for its forward-leaning AI governance approaches and piloting AI across public services, it requires improvement in its domestic research ecosystems and capital mobilisation.
“Australia has a huge opportunity to use agentic AI to deliver productivity improvements for greater business growth and improved government services,” said Sassoon Grigorian, Vice President Government Affairs, Salesforce APAC. “The establishment of a National Office of AI could align strategy across government, industry, and education and training institutions to build momentum with trust. Australia should also consider establishing an AI Safety Institute like other countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Korea.”

Supporting Public Sector innovation and customer success
Government departments have an opportunity to improve responsiveness, efficiency, and productivity using agentic AI. That’s why Salesforce launched Agentforce for Public Sector, to augment government workers with digital labour – a digital workforce of intelligent AI agents – that can autonomously handle complex and time-consuming tasks while staying within defined guardrails.
Government departments can now use AI agents to assist employees and customers, speeding up responsiveness and enabling better support. This frees public sector employees to focus on mission-critical tasks while enabling easier, faster, and more cost-effective public services.
Salesforce recently announced Agentforce completed an Independent Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment and was given PROTECTED status, meeting the Australian Government’s highest security standards for handling sensitive data.
“Australian governments are working to unlock new levels of productivity and efficiency while maintaining the highest levels of trust and security. We’re focused on helping public sector departments to achieve both,” said Glenn Rozet, Senior Vice President, Public Sector ANZ, Salesforce. “We’re working to deliver a future where government frontline services have the data insights they need to anticipate customer needs and the AI tools to improve productivity and deliver 24/7 digital-first support.”
As part of Salesforce’s investment in Australia, our Canberra employees have moved to a new office in Barton, expanding Salesforce’s presence to support public sector innovation and customer success.
“In the era of the Agentic Enterprise, our vision for real estate is to create the right spaces and experiences that empower humans, agents, and robots working together to accelerate strategic growth,” said Relina Bulchandani, Executive Vice President Real Estate & Workplace Services, Salesforce. “This expansion will help our local public sector teams deliver new levels of innovation and customer success in the region.”
