Nucleus Network, one of the world’s leading early-phase clinical research organisations, is using agentic AI to speed up participant recruitment for global clinical trials. As trial operations scaled across Australia, the US and the UK, recruitment couldn’t keep up; pre-screening depended on recruiters being available during business hours, participant data sat scattered across systems, and teams spent more time on admin than on people.
Nucleus Network’s answer was a unified Salesforce platform, with Data Cloud at its core and Agentforce automation built directly into the recruitment journey. At the centre is NORA — the Nucleus Online Recruitment Assistant — an AI-powered agent delivering round-the-clock pre-screening and participant support on the Nucleus Network website. The company went live with NORA in just five months alongside implementation partner OSF, and has continued expanding its role since.
“Clinical research runs on trust,” said Jeremy Collins, Chief Digital Officer at Nucleus Network. “AI has to earn its place without getting in the way of that. NORA gives our recruitment teams back the time to focus on the high-touch conversations that matter most, while participants get a fast, consistent experience on their own schedule.”
Unifying data across service and marketing channels gives recruitment teams richer insights and participants a more personalised experience from first click to first appointment. NORA checks eligibility and qualifies participants in real time, then hands them to recruitment specialists, with full context already attached. That’s cut contact centre handling time and improved screening-to-dosing conversion by matching the right participants to the right studies, sooner.
Next, Nucleus Network plans to expand NORA into fully self-service enrolment for lower-complexity studies, building toward the next generation of digital participant experiences across its global trial operations.
