Salesforce Deepens Investment in Washington, D.C. With New Innovation Center

Salesforce Deepens Investment in Washington, D.C.

The new space will serve as a hub for public sector customers, partners, and the D.C. community to meet, collaborate, and explore the next generation of government services

Salesforce today unveiled plans for a new home for its Washington, D.C., operations, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the region and to serving public sector customers and partners. The Salesforce Innovation Center D.C. is designed as a hub for meetings, events, and hands-on technology experiences that will bring local employees together with customers, partners, elected officials, and community organizations.

Just steps from the White House and Metro Center, the new facility puts Salesforce at the center of national policy, government, and civic engagement. It will serve as Salesforce’s Washington home for helping shape the policies and experiences that define how technology serves the American people. The center will further solidify Salesforce’s commitment to supporting public sector customers and federal agencies — including all 15 Cabinet agencies and 50 states, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Department of Veterans Affairs, and U.S. Department of Transportation — as they modernize their operations and services.

“Washington is where policy, public service, and innovation intersect, especially as rapid technological change transforms how government and business operate,” said Wendy R. Anderson, SVP of Government and Global Public Affairs, Salesforce. “This new space strengthens our presence in the capital, giving us a dedicated place to convene leaders across government and industry to deepen and forge new relationships, advance shared priorities, and invest in the D.C. community.”

Designed for immersive engagement and collaboration

Located at 1401 New York Avenue NW, a property owned and managed by Carr Properties – a leading owner, operator and developer of premium office and residential properties – the site will host policy summits, hands-on briefing sessions, and collaboration on mission-critical technology solutions for the public sector. It offers employees an immersive venue to work together and host government leaders, partners, and community organizations. The site will also offer an indoor-outdoor rooftop venue with panoramic downtown views, plus dedicated wellness and conferencing amenities.

“Our vision for real estate is to create spaces that bring our culture to life, where people and trusted technology come together to unlock new ideas and innovation,” said Relina Bulchandani, Executive Vice President, Real Estate & Workplace Services, Salesforce. “In D.C., the innovation center will serve as a purpose-built hub where our teams can welcome public sector leaders, partners, and community organizations to share ideas, test what’s possible, and build lasting relationships.”

“Salesforce’s decision to make 1401 New York Avenue its new D.C. home speaks to the quality of the building and its location,” said Ryan Lopez, Vice President, Leasing at Carr Properties. “We’ve experienced strong leasing momentum here, and our upcoming renovations will build on that success as we continue to invest in the property for our customers.”

An investment in public sector leadership and purpose-built spaces

The move is part of a broader, sustained investment across Salesforce’s public sector and government affairs organizations. Salesforce recently bolstered its public sector leadership team with key executive hires, including Wendy R. Anderson as Senior Vice President of Government and Global Public Affairs, Geof Kahn as Vice President of Federal Government Affairs & Public Policy, and Virginia Sharma as CMO of Missionforce.

This expanded leadership presence will focus on driving success for federal, state, and local government agencies as they modernize their operations on Salesforce GovCloud and Missionforce.

Deepening a two-decade commitment to D.C.

Salesforce has had a major presence in the D.C. region for over 20 years, with more than 2,000 employees across the District and surrounding Maryland and Virginia communities. The new space marks the next phase of the company’s local presence, now in the heart of D.C., reinforcing its commitment to civic engagement and its work with customers, policymakers, and communities across the region. The company’s McLean, Virginia, office will continue to serve as a key regional hub.

The new space will also deepen Salesforce’s engagement with the local community through hosted events, volunteerism, and non-profit partnerships. Through its 1-1-1 philanthropic model, Salesforce and its employees have contributed more than $76 million and 16,000 volunteer hours to communities across the D.C. area.

“The transformation of government will be one of the most exciting and consequential applications of the agentic era,” said Kendall Collins, President and CEO of Missionforce and Government Cloud at Salesforce. “Our new Salesforce Innovation Center will support public-sector modernization efforts that improve citizen services, streamline government operations, and strengthen national security. We look forward to welcoming government leaders, customers, and partners to our new home in the heart of Washington, D.C.”

Construction on the new space begins in late 2026, with an official opening planned for early 2028.
