Fortune Ranks Salesforce First Among its Best Workplaces for Giving Back

Salesforce is honored to be ranked first on Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Giving Back list for the second year in a row. Giving back to the community is a top priority at our company, and our employees logged more than 800,000 volunteer hours in 2017.

Fortune‘s research partner, Great Place to Work, selects the Best Workplaces for Giving Back rankings based on feedback from 386,278 employees from its set of certified organizations. Employees completed Great Place to Work’s anonymous Trust Index survey, answering a detailed questionnaire that includes questions about how proud they are of their impact on the community, the difference they feel they make, and whether their work has special meaning.

At Salesforce, our philosophy is that the business of business is improving the state of the world and giving back to the communities that we live and work in. Nearly 19 years ago, Salesforce set out to create a new philanthropy approach with our 1-1-1 model. The 1-1-1 model contributes one percent of Salesforce’s equity, one percent of employee time and one percent of product back into the community.

Here are some of the ways in which Salesforce gives back:

· To date, our employees have spent more than 2.5 million volunteer hours in their communities doing everything from teaching kids how to code in the classroom to building playgrounds

· All Salesforce employees are provided with seven days of volunteer time off (VTO) to give back to the causes they’re passionate about

· As part of our giving back model, Salesforce.org matches every employee’s personal donations up to $5,000 per year, and we encourage employees to give back to the charitable organizations that matter most to them

· Our technology helps power the missions of 33,000 non-profits and higher education campuses

· Salesforce has a long history of supporting computer science initiatives. Since our founding, we’ve donated more than $65 million through investments in Code.org and the San Francisco Unified School District and Oakland Unified School District. Additionally, Salesforce employees have committed 40,000 volunteer hours to education across the country over the 2017–2018 school year, doubling the previous school year commitment.

· As part of the White House’s STEM pledge, we announced a $50 million donation over the next five years to further computer science education and a commitment to one million volunteer hours in classrooms across the U.S. We also granted all public schools in the country ten free subscriptions for key Salesforce products and donated $1 million to Code.org in order to expand access and teacher training for K-12 computer science education.
