Salesforce Positioned as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape Report for Enterprise B2B Digital Commerce

Today, Salesforce announced it has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape Report: Worldwide Enterprise B2B Digital Commerce Applications 2023-2024 Vendor Assessment¹. Salesforce was evaluated for Commerce Cloud, which recently added new features including generative AI and data innovations for enterprise B2B commerce customers.

Why it matters: B2B ecommerce grew 17% in 2023, and 7 out of 10 B2B buyers see online buying as more convenient.

  • Commerce Cloud helps B2B companies around the world maximize their digital commerce revenue through highly personalized, AI-driven digital experiences built for their customers with CRM, trusted AI, and data.
  • The IDC MarketScape Report identified several strengths for enterprise B2B commerce companies using Salesforce, including its market awareness, emphasis on AI, support for developers, and CPQ (Configure, Price, and Quote) plus commerce integrations.

The report notes:

  • “Enterprise B2B buyers, often operating with significant budgets and the weight of organizational expectations, are inclined to opt for solutions that have a proven track record.”
  • “Consider Salesforce Commerce Cloud if your organization is primarily focused on differentiating via business agility, AI, and data, and deep relationships from a platform that is very business-user friendly.”

Consider Salesforce Commerce Cloud if your organization is primarily focused on differentiating via business agility, AI, and data, and deep relationships from a platform that is very business-user friendly.

The Salesforce perspective: “B2B businesses grow with Commerce Cloud because it delivers on the trust, agility, and innovation customers need to win in the AI era,” said Michael Affronti, SVP and General Manager of Commerce Cloud. “With trusted AI capabilities embedded across every buyer touchpoint, integrated data from Salesforce Data Cloud that powers AI, automation, and insights, and one of the most robust partner ecosystems in the world, Commerce Cloud is helping B2B companies drive stronger customer relationships and profitable growth every day.”

Innovation in action: Salesforce continues to invest in B2B commerce innovations to help global companies drive profitable growth and efficiency while meeting customer expectations. Some of the latest enterprise innovations in Commerce Cloud include:

  • Einstein Copilot for B2B Buyers: This customizable, conversational generative AI assistant lets B2B buyers use plain language prompts and photos to easily identify products, receive personalized recommendations, and engage in nuanced conversations with a business on any digital channel. In addition, with Einstein Copilot, buyers can easily add recommended items to their cart and complete transactions all within the same digital channel, streamlining the purchasing process.
  • AI-driven Goal Setting and Recommendations: Sellers can now establish growth targets and business goals, such as enhancing margins or boosting average order value, right inside of Commerce Cloud. Then, leveraging data and insights derived from Salesforce Data Cloud, sellers can receive actionable, AI-powered recommendations for achieving these goals.
  • Generative SEO Metadata Optimization: Einstein can develop search engine optimization recommendations that sellers can use to modify the titles and descriptions of their products that are displayed on search engine result pages and browser tabs, enhancing visibility and improving their products’ online presence.
  • Enterprise Scale Carts and Split Shipments: Businesses can now support up to 2,000 line items in a single cart for frictionless, large-volume B2B transactions. This gives B2B customers the flexibility to split a single order into multiple delivery addresses or shipping speeds based on distribution needs.
  • Native Merchant Services: Shipping, tax, and checkout are now all integrated directly in Commerce Cloud, eliminating the complexity of setting up critical integrations with outside applications that are normally needed to handle these processes.
