Salesforce co-CEO Keith Block Discusses the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Playing the Long Game with CNBC’s Jim Cramer

In an interview with Jim Cramer on CNBC’s “Mad Money” on Thursday, Salesforce co-CEO Keith Block discussed the transformations and blurring of boundaries that companies are contending with—including rapid advances in AI, robotics, the Internet of Things and other technologies—as the Fourth Industrial Revolution evolves.

“We’re going to be celebrating our 20th birthday coming up in just a month,” he said, “and when we think about what has happened over the last 20 years we’ve seen revolutionary changes in technology and we’re in this Fourth Industrial Revolution. Companies are going through business model changes and digital transformations and the role of the CEO is different than it used to be.” Today’s CEOs need to be chief transformation officers.

Cramer asked how companies in disparate industries, ranging from banking to retail, can benefit from working with Salesforce. “At the end of the day everything begins and ends with the customer,” Block said. “It’s all about the 360-degree view of the customer and that has been the holy grail since I’ve been in the industry—providing the insights, the engagement, the technology around how customers can have a greater experience.”
