Joining Forces to Become the Go-To Destination for APIs and Integration, Strengthening MuleSoft's Vision and Roadmap for Connecting the New Enterprise

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – April 23, 2013 – MuleSoft, provider of the world”s most widely used integration platform to connect the New Enterprise, today announced that it has acquired ProgrammableWeb, the popular online destination used by developers worldwide to help build Web, mobile and other connected applications through APIs. As the pioneering authority on open APIs and the most visited destination for APIs, ProgrammableWeb has the world’s largest and most active community of API developers and consumers. The acquisition of ProgrammableWeb furthers MuleSoft’s mission to revolutionize the way the world connects, extending the Anypoint Platform and creating the easiest and most complete way to connect any application, any data source and any API, across the entire cloud and on-premise continuum.

Founded on the idea that connecting applications should be easy, MuleSoft lets organizations connect their applications and data, without the need for custom point-to-point integration code. MuleSoft believes that APIs are the future of connectivity. By joining forces with ProgrammableWeb, MuleSoft is transforming the industry by making APIs more accessible and easier for developers to consume. ProgrammableWeb has grown to become the leading independent voice on APIs, and MuleSoft will be investing heavily to foster the vision of the company’s founding team.

As the first company to evangelize APIs, ProgrammableWeb has become the leading authority on the API economy. The company offers a well-known directory of APIs and mashups, with thousands of APIs that users can search and connect as part of ProgrammableWeb”s rich developer community. ProgrammableWeb has also served as the de facto resource on APIs, with daily industry news, analysis, case studies, tools and technical resources.

With this acquisition, the combined API directories of APIhub and ProgrammableWeb form the world’s largest and most complete repository of APIs. As a standalone business unit within MuleSoft, ProgrammableWeb will continue to serve as the leading independent voice in the API community.

We have been the leading voice in the API community since 2005, and we’re excited about this big step forward in our evolution.”

“The number of APIs continues to grow exponentially, and we’re passionate about providing the best information and resources available to the API community,” said Adam DuVander, executive editor of ProgrammableWeb. “MuleSoft’s industry leadership, financial strength to invest in ProgrammableWeb’s growth and commitment to growing the API ecosystem make it the perfect home for us, and we’re ready to join forces to further evangelize the importance of APIs.”

“APIs are the catalyst for a new era of hyperconnectivity, and our acquisition of ProgrammableWeb underscores our commitment to connect the New Enterprise,” said Greg Schott, president and CEO of MuleSoft. “Together with ProgrammableWeb, we’re extending our platform to give customers and developers a single, authoritative voice on APIs and a centralized venue for resources that enables developers and companies to fully embrace the API phenomenon.”
