SAN FRANCISCO – February 29, 2016 – MuleSoft, the company that makes it easy to connect applications, data and devices, today announced it is continuing to grow its vertical industry solutions and team of global experts across industries, including financial services, healthcare, retail and the public sector. This approach is being supported by industry-specific product advisory boards and partner ecosystems, with the vision to deliver API-led connectivity and transform the way companies connect with their customers and partners. The first of the vertical initiatives is being launched at HIMSS with MuleSoft’s new Solution for Epic EMR Integration and its inaugural Healthcare Product Advisory Board.
Strong Customer and Partner Momentum in Healthcare Industry
MuleSoft continues to see growing market demand from the healthcare space, as healthcare leaders are recognizing that connectivity is critical to achieving their strategic initiatives, improving patient outcomes and increasing operational efficiencies. Current and new customers in 2015 include CareFusion, Livongo Health, Premera Blue Cross, Sutter Health and other leading healthcare organizations worldwide, as well as 3 of the best 8 hospitals in the United States. In addition, MuleSoft has strengthened its partnerships with Deloitte, Salesforce and other partners in its ecosystem to deliver on the vision of connected healthcare and patient-centered care. MuleSoft has also joined the Argonaut Project, an industry-led effort to speed the development and adoption of HL7’s standards framework, FHIR.
“Today’s rising expectations to create more personalized experiences is driving healthcare organizations, health plans and large employers to engage with individuals in new ways, including through new technologies, connected devices and online portals,” said Adnan Asar, Chief Technology Officer, Livongo Health. “With MuleSoft, we’re able to address complex connectivity across clinical and non-clinical systems, so that we can deliver context-aware insights and real-time coaching to people with diabetes.”
Solution for Epic EMR Integration Increases Time-to-Value for Healthcare Leaders to Unlock the Electronic Medical Record
MuleSoft’s Solution for Epic EMR Integration allows healthcare organizations to accelerate development of applications that are external to Epic, such as patient CRM, web and mobile patient portals and document management systems, with a set of prebuilt integration templates. The templates save manual development work and leverage integration best practices. Key features include:
- Pre-built integration flows that read/write data from Epic, transform that data into HL7 FHIR and then expose that data via a well-defined RESTful API
- End-to-end reference implementation of the FHIR standard, including the following FHIR objects: Patient Demographics, Condition, Observation, Allergy, Medication and Scheduling
- Support for both Epic Bridges (HL7 v2) and Epic Interconnect (SOAP) interfaces
“Data integration and interoperability across healthcare IT and external systems have become exponentially more complex,” said Ross Mason, founder and vice president of product strategy, MuleSoft. “We’ve built a full end-to-end reference implementation of the FHIR standard to allow our customers to seamlessly bring data from the EMR to mobile and web applications and back, while enabling secure and governed data access. MuleSoft’s API-led approach is designed to enable the secure reuse of health data across the organization to accelerate development and reduce operational cost.”
New Healthcare Product Advisory Board to Drive Innovation in Digital Healthcare
MuleSoft has launched a new product advisory board comprised of its core healthcare and life sciences customers. The board will serve as a forum for knowledge exchange and product feedback. Members will contribute their insights, share best practices, and partner with MuleSoft in guiding its go-to-market approach and healthcare product roadmap, such as its Solution for Epic EMR Integration. Its founding members consist of leading healthcare providers and institutions, including Johns Hopkins Medicine and UCSF.
MuleSoft will be at HIMSS16 from February 29 to March 4, 2016.
