FY20 Stakeholder Impact Report: A Blueprint for Building Trust

It's never been more important for businesses to lead with values and build trust.

Each year, Salesforce discloses the company’s environment, social and governance (ESG) initiatives in an annual Stakeholder Impact Report.

By publicly disclosing our corporate responsibility data, we aim to strengthen the trust with our broader set of stakeholders: our customers, employees, partners, shareholders, communities, and the environment. The report holds us accountable to commitments made in areas such as governance, sustainability, equality, trust, employee programs, and giving back. In sharing our progress, we hope to offer a blueprint for others to follow on their own corporate journey.

This year as we publish the FY20 Stakeholder Impact Report, we are in the midst of a health crisis and economic crisis. In light of the pandemic, it’s never been more important to lead with our values and reinforce trust with our stakeholders. At Salesforce, we’re responding to this crisis with compassion and working hard to serve all our stakeholders. We are bringing the full power of Salesforce to keep our employees and their families healthy and safe, support our communities, and help our customers and partners navigate this crisis. By upholding our values, we delivered another year of record growth and progress for all of our stakeholders. This year’s report is our most comprehensive and transparent report yet, reviewed by our Legal and SEC Reporting teams to ensure consistency with our other SEC filings. The contents are informed by the Global Reporting Initiative Standards (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s (SASB) Software and IT Services sector guide, the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and third-party ESG materiality assessment.

FY20 highlights include Salesforce’s:

· Global leadership and commitment to the planet. Salesforce, along with a coalition of business, civil society and UN leaders, committed to set 1.5C science-based emissions reduction targets, the ambitious goal needed to prevent the damaging effects of climate change. The Science Based Targets initiative approved the company’s targets, advancing our commitment to creating a sustainable, low-carbon future and economy. In the fall of 2019 we announced Salesforce Sustainability Cloud, a solution built on Salesforce, that empowers businesses to quickly track, analyze and report reliable environmental data to help them reduce their carbon emissions. In January 2020, the World Economic Forum and partners, including Salesforce launched 1t.org to connect, empower and mobilize a global reforestation community of millions. Salesforce committed to conserving and restoring 100 million trees.

· Support of the Sustainable Development Goals. At Dreamforce last fall, we donated $17 million in grants and committed 1 million employee hours to advance the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which range from upholding equality for all people to fighting climate change. Salesforce also joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary global leadership platform with 10 principles for companies to align on the development, implementation, and communication of responsible business practices.

· Efforts to upskill the workforce. With Trailhead, our free online learning platform for everyone, we’re upskilling everyone for the digital economy. More than 1.8 million learners are changing their lives on Trailhead, and have an opportunity to participate in the Salesforce ecosystem.

At Salesforce we seek to harness our company’s culture of innovation to create a sustainable future for all. In this time of crisis, leaders must look to innovate, collaborate and drive big action today to ensure a safe and healthy future, whether it be in a week, a month or a decade.
