Edmund Ang brings more than 25 years of experience building businesses throughout Asia — including Genesys, IBM, Oracle and Unisys — to his new role as salesforce.com SVP, GM Asia Pacific
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — November 17, 2004 — Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), today announced the addition of Edmund Ang to the company's executive team. He will serve as senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific. Ang, who will report directly to salesforce.com Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff, is responsible for leading salesforce.com's Asia Pacific expansion across Asia and the Indian subcontinent to meet the region's growing demand for enterprise-class on-demand CRM.
Ang joins salesforce.com from Genesys, an Alcatel (NYSE: ALA, Paris: CGEP.PA) company, where he served as senior vice president from 1999—2004. In a career spanning nearly three decades in the Asia Pacific region, Ang has also held executive roles with IBM (NYSE: IBM), Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Unisys (NYSE: UIS).
"More and more enterprises in Asia Pacific are embracing the on-demand model for CRM success," Benioff said. "Edmund has spent the past 25 years creating business relationships and opportunities. His commitment, passion and vast experience in the Asia Pacific market make him an excellent addition to an already exceptional executive team."
"Salesforce.com's total commitment to customer success resonates with companies who are tired of software failure," Ang said. "I am proud to be part of salesforce.com's vision and innovation. I look forward to working with my team and partners to drive further expansion in this area of huge opportunity and to help bring about the end of software in the region."
Under Ang's leadership, Genesys' Asia Pacific division grew revenue eight-fold and achieved the highest market share for Genesys worldwide with customers across 13 countries in the region. While serving as regional managing director for Oracle, Ang helped grow its business by 400 percent in four years. Before joining Oracle, Ang held sales executive positions at IBM and Unisys. He started his career as a Foreign Service officer in Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
