Reimagining Climate Vision in India with Agentic AI

1M1B

Across the globe, the climate crisis is spurring innovation. Countries are turning to technology to drive sustainable solutions — and India is no exception.

With its growing renewable sector and strong digital backbone, India is embracing AI to take climate action and build resilience. The Government’s National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, led by NITI Aayog and IndiaAI, identifies climate action as a critical priority — and agentic AI is emerging as a key enabler.

These autonomous systems analyse data and take action — helping forecast weather, manage energy use, and optimise resources, especially in communities with limited infrastructure.

AI is also powering India’s renewable energy transition. From predicting solar output to managing smart grids and reducing emissions across supply chains, intelligent systems are accelerating progress toward the nation’s net-zero 2070 goal.

In this journey, Salesforce stands actively aligned — integrating its global vision for climate philanthropy with India’s bold push for sustainable, AI-driven transformation.

Empowering communities through sustainable innovation: The Salesforce India impact

Salesforce India is helping bring this vision to life through a growing portfolio of high-impact climate programs — powered by technology, partnerships, and people. In Telangana, for example, the team has partnered with Youth of India to deploy decentralised solar microgrids in Jangaon. These clean energy solutions are more than just infrastructure — they bring last-mile energy access, promote resilience, and create green skilling opportunities for local communities.

“The community-led decentralised solar microgrid project in Jangaon is laying the foundation for a sustainable and empowered cleaner and greener future at the grassroots level. Reliable and Regular clean energy has improved daily life and opened doors to new opportunities, especially through the training and skilling programs that empower local women and youth,” said Shailesh Singhal, Founder, Youth of India.

In Jangaon alone, the initiative is generating 500 MW megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy annually, avoiding offsetting 520 tonnes of carbon emissions, and powering 210 households, two government schools, and key public infrastructure. It has also installed 200 solar streetlights, led to a 60% increase in environmental literacy, and trained 50 members of the local community, including women, in solar PV installation — building both capacity and climate confidence at the grassroots.

“At Salesforce India, we believe that true sustainability begins with empowering people and communities. Our work in Telangana reflects this belief — combining cutting-edge technology with local engagement to create lasting environmental and social impact. We are proud to be part of this journey toward a greener, more inclusive future,” said Sanket Atal, Managing Director – Operations & Technology at Salesforce India.

Building a resilient future — powered by AI

Imagine a future where AI agents support disaster recovery by autonomously coordinating relief efforts, routing donations, or even managing clean energy microgrids. That future is already being prototyped — and Salesforce’s Agentforce platform is making it real.

But it’s not just about infrastructure. It’s about climate talent. Salesforce India’s partnership with 1M1B Foundation has launched the Green Skills & AI Academy — the first of its kind in Hyderabad. The academy is preparing over 100,000 students across 700 colleges to take on emerging careers in sustainability, digital creativity, and climate technology.

“As 1M1Bs mission progresses in Telangana it’ll empower a million strong youth to become change makers  for a sustainable future driven by green sustainability and AI,” said Manav Subodh, Founder and Chief Mentor, 1M1B.

Beyond projects: A culture of climate leadership

Whether it’s restoring 110 acres of elephant habitat in Kerala, reviving mangroves in the Sundarbans, or building biodiversity parks in Hyderabad and Mumbai, Salesforce India’s approach combines environmental restoration with socioeconomic upliftment.

In addition to its climate and nature investments, at the heart of Salesforce’s efforts is its own sustainability movement, Earthforce, a 14,000 strong employee-led initiative that transforms passion into purpose. In just one year, Earthforce volunteers in India contributed thousands of hours to afforestation, lake restoration, and biodiversity programs.

A call to reimagine climate solutions for a sustainable tomorrow

From regenerative agriculture to smart forest certification, Salesforce is demonstrating how agentic AI enables organisations to maximise impact with existing resources—scaling not just operations, but fairness, responsibility, and sustainable innovation.

This World Environment Day, as the global community rallies around urgent climate action, reimagining our approach means moving beyond reactive fixes toward proactive, coordinated strategies. Agentic AI empowers communities not only with advanced tools but with real agency—fostering resilience, inclusion, and shared ownership in climate solutions.

We’re not merely participating in sustainability efforts; we’re leading with clear purpose—and inviting others to join us in creating lasting change.
