Salesforce Turns Enterprise Applications into Enterprise Capabilities

Salesforce Extends Headless 360

Headless 360 is expanding across the Salesforce platform, transforming every Salesforce cloud into reusable enterprise capabilities that any authorized AI agent can securely discover and use through open standards.

SAN FRANCISCO, August 19, 2026 — AI agents are rapidly becoming the new interface for enterprise software. But while organizations are deploying more agents than ever, most still can’t securely take action across the business without custom integrations, duplicated business logic, and fragmented governance.

Today, Salesforce is significantly expanding Headless 360, continuing its evolution of the Salesforce platform for the agentic era. New Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, Data 360 capabilities, Slack integrations, developer tools, reusable Skills, and headless experiences across every major cloud make it easier than ever for any authorized AI agent to securely discover, understand, and take action across the enterprise.

Headless 360 transforms the Salesforce platform from a collection of enterprise applications into reusable enterprise capabilities that any authorized AI agent can securely discover and use. Instead of rebuilding integrations for every new AI experience, organizations can securely reuse the business capabilities they’ve already built on Salesforce, preserving the same identity, permissions, metadata, workflows, governance, and business logic already established across their enterprise.

Headless 360 is the architectural foundation for the next generation of the Salesforce platform, systematically extending every Salesforce cloud beyond the application and making trusted enterprise capabilities securely reusable wherever AI works.

This milestone builds on Salesforce’s long history of openness. More than 27 years ago, Salesforce pioneered the enterprise web API, making enterprise data and business functionality available beyond a single application. Headless 360 brings that same philosophy into the agentic era, making trusted business capabilities available wherever AI agents work.

Engine is already seeing the impact, launching its AI support agent, EVA, in just 12 days, which now resolves half of all customer chat interactions without a human on the line.

Expanding Headless 360 across the enterprise

Since introducing Headless 360, Salesforce has rapidly expanded the platform across every layer of the Agentic Enterprise. Today’s announcement includes:

  • Headless 360 MCP Server, bringing trusted Salesforce capabilities to any AI agent through open standards
  • Data 360 MCP Server, extending trusted customer context beyond Salesforce
  • Slackbot MCP Client, bringing enterprise actions directly into the flow of work
  • Agent Skills and Plugins, with more than 100 reusable Skills that package business logic into governed, reusable capabilities
  • Headless Experience Layer, enabling developers to build rich web, mobile, embedded, and conversational experiences
  • Salesforce Multi-framework, allowing developers to build modern React applications with native Salesforce authentication, security, and governance
  • Expanded Headless 360 capabilities across Marketing, Sales, Service, Commerce, MuleSoft, Informatica, Tableau, and the broader Salesforce platform

Together, these innovations continue Salesforce’s vision of making every trusted business capability available wherever people and AI agents work.

A secure foundation for the Agentic Enterprise

As organizations deploy more AI agents across the enterprise, they need more than open APIs — they need a secure, governed foundation that allows every agent to discover, understand, and safely take action across the business.

At the center of that foundation is the new Headless 360 MCP Server, built on the open MCP.  Rather than requiring developers to manually specify every object, API, workflow, or business rule an agent might need, the Headless 360 MCP Server enables agents running in Agentforce, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI platforms to dynamically discover, understand, and invoke Salesforce capabilities in real time.

Most MCP servers expose APIs. The Headless 360 MCP Server exposes trusted business capabilities.

Because it’s metadata-aware, agents don’t simply discover endpoints — they understand the relationships, permissions, workflows, validation rules, and governance that define how the business actually operates. Every action inherits the trusted context customers have already built inside Salesforce, allowing agents to execute work safely without developers recreating enterprise logic in prompts or custom code.

The result is a secure foundation for the Agentic Enterprise. Organizations can confidently extend Salesforce beyond traditional applications, bringing trusted business capabilities into every AI experience while maintaining the same identity, security, governance, and business logic they’ve already established across their enterprise.

Every AI agent needs trusted context

Enterprise AI is only as powerful as the context behind it.

That’s why Salesforce is introducing the Data 360 MCP Server, extending trusted customer context beyond the Salesforce UI and exposing nearly 200 Data 360 APIs through open standards.

Until now, headless experiences primarily queried customer data. With the Data 360 MCP Server, authorized agents can now build semantic models, transform data, generate calculated insights, intelligently map fields, inspect identity graphs, create audience segments, activate campaigns, and stand up entirely new data streams — all through natural language.

Every Data 360 MCP Server also includes prebuilt Skills for common workflows, including code extensions,  transformations, and activation, allowing customers to move from a single prompt to governed execution with minimal setup. Skills are expected to become generally available later this month.

Agentforce Coworker is one example of Headless 360 in action. Built on Data 360, it brings trusted customer context into the flow of work, enabling employees to reason, orchestrate, and take action across Salesforce, Slack, Gmail, and other enterprise applications from a single conversational experience.

“Data 360 Headless lets our agents reach a unified patient context from any surface — through MCP, without waiting for a purpose-built interface for each one. What makes those answers clinically trustworthy is the physician-curated ontology sitting between the data and the agent. That’s where the intelligence lives, and it’s why we can hold onto one question, one answer, every time.” — Dr. Paramjit “Romi” Chopra, Founder & CEO, MIMIT Health

AI should work where people already work

Headless 360 reaches every surface, but its value grows when agents work where employees already collaborate.

That’s in Slack.

Slackbot’s MCP Client is now generally available, allowing Slackbot to securely connect with the Salesforce platform, all Salesforce MCP servers, and more than 20 partner applications, including Atlassian, Box, Canva, Docusign, Notion, Zoom.

Employees can update Salesforce opportunities, retrieve contracts, launch workflows, and coordinate work across enterprise systems directly from their conversations, all while inheriting the same permissions, identity, and governance policies already defined across the business.

“Zoom’s open platform strategy is built on meeting customers where they work,” said Brendan Ittelson, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Zoom. “By integrating our MCP server with Slackbot, we’re making it effortless for millions of users to access their Zoom meeting intelligence through natural conversation — no context switching required. This is what the agentic future of work looks like.”

Headless 360 is the future of the Salesforce platform

Headless 360 is more than a collection of capabilities. It represents how Salesforce is evolving its platform for the agentic era. For decades, enterprise software has been organized around applications. Headless 360 changes that by systematically transforming every Salesforce cloud into reusable enterprise capabilities that can be securely consumed by AI agents, applications, and experiences.

Today’s announcement expands that vision across every major Salesforce cloud:

Marketing

The generally available Marketing Engagement MCP Server allows marketers to manage journeys, campaigns, data extensions, and content through natural language across any interface.

Sales and revenue

Agentforce Sales and Self-Service Buying extend revenue operations beyond CRM, allowing sales workflows to operate across applications, storefronts, and AI-powered buying experiences.

Service

Headless Service extends dispatching, Field Service scheduling and customer support workflows into external applications, messaging platforms, and conversational experiences.

Commerce

Headless Commerce enables AI-powered storefronts while giving developer agents secure access to the commerce capabilities needed to rapidly build and ship experiences.

Trusted data and integration

MuleSoft and Informatica expose integration, APIs, data quality, governance, metadata, and trusted enterprise context as reusable MCP services, making it easier for agents to reach governed business data without custom integration work.

Headless 360 is designed to work across the broader enterprise ecosystem. It expands trusted context through zero copy data partnerships; gives customers access to a growing ecosystem of trusted capabilities through AgentExchange; and brings Salesforce actions to the leading AI models and platforms, including ,Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Amazon Web Services.

Building once. Reusing everywhere.

Making Salesforce available everywhere required more than exposing APIs.

It required a complete developer platform.

Today’s announcement also expands the tools developers use to build agent-powered experiences:

  • Agent Skills and Plugins, with more than 100 reusable Skills that package orchestration, validation, resources, and business logic into governed capabilities
  • Salesforce Multi-framework, now generally available, enabling React applications with native Salesforce authentication, security, and data access
  • Headless Experience Layer, now in open beta, helping developers build web, mobile, embedded, and conversational experiences powered by Salesforce

Together, these capabilities support the complete lifecycle of enterprise AI, from discovering trusted capabilities to orchestrating business logic to building and delivering production-ready applications.

The next interface isn’t another application

Enterprise software spent decades optimizing experiences for people clicking through applications.

The next generation of enterprise software will optimize for AI agents completing work across them.

With Headless 360, Salesforce is continuing that evolution, transforming every trusted business capability into a reusable enterprise service that any authorized AI agent, application, or experience can securely consume.

The result is an open, governed, and trusted foundation for the Agentic Enterprise, one that allows customers to bring every workflow, every business capability, and every piece of trusted context they’ve already built into the future of AI, without rebuilding it again.
