Legendary Rock Star Chrissie Hynde on How We Can Be Better Citizens of the World

Legendary Pretenders rock star, Chrissie Hynde discusses rock, the environment, and reflects on this heavy time with positivity.

Welcome to another edition of B-Well Together, a 30-minute webinar series, highlighting tips, resources, and coping skills from leading wellbeing experts to support you and your families. Prior episodes featured acclaimed “On Being” host Krista Tippett, renowned primatologist Jane Goodall, and wellness guru Deepak Chopra.

Today we have legendary rock star and lead singer and songwriter of the Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde.

Coming to us live from London, where she has lived since she was 22, Hynde muses about the Pretenders’ forthcoming album, “Hate For Sale,” while displaying some of her art behind her. The Ohio native talks about how she has felt moments of loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic but really enjoys this downtime. “I can’t remember over the last 50 years not feeling under pressure … so I’m responding well to that.”

Beyond creating art and music, Hynde reflects on this heavy time with a bit of positivity, commenting on how clean the air is. She says we can all use this time to think about how we want to come out of the crisis, how we can be better citizens of the world and start to think smaller.

“It’s more about how are we going to use this surprise moment where, globally, we’re all in the same moment where we’re on hold,” she says.

Tune in to the video below to hear Hynde drop more knowledge about how we can be better to each other and how she really feels about karaoke.
