ThomasNet uses cloud computing from salesforce.com to minimize development time, facilitate ease of use, and to leverage existing investment in Salesforce CRM .
SAN FRANCISCO - July 13, 2009 - Salesforce.com [NYSE: CRM], the enterprise cloud computing company, today announced that ThomasNet is using Force.com Sites to run its online recruiting efforts.
“Force.com Sites enabled us to create a rich, fully customized recruiting application that integrates with our Salesforce CRM deployment, all in a matter of weeks,” said Brian Makas, manager of business intelligence at ThomasNet.
Force.com Sites is a new capability of the Force.com platform that allows companies to build and run public-facing Web sites and applications. Force.com Sites provides companies the fastest way to build and run Web sites and applications in real-time without requiring any software or hardware infrastructure.
“Force.com Sites provides ThomasNet with an ideal way to publish and promote job opportunities, collect resumes, and track candidates. As the recruiting manager enters new jobs into Salesforce CRM they are automatically displayed on our Web site at http://careers.thomasnet.com. And, when someone applies for a job on our Web site, that information is automatically collected in Salesforce CRM. It’s the ability to connect content available in Salesforce CRM to the Web and vice versa that made using Force.com Sites an obvious decision,” added Makas. Since deploying the site, ThomasNet has already seen an increase of over 500 percent in the number of qualified resumes received.
“Since 2006, when we first deployed Salesforce CRM, we have continually looked for ways to further leverage the technology because of the productivity it enables without the need for significant development time or resources. These factors are the catalyst in our investment preferences for cloud computing,” said Janet Tarzia, executive director of marketing at ThomasNet.
