Salesforce.com/foundation Launches in Europe to Extend Business and Community Integration

Salesforce.com 1% model sets pace for corporate social responsibility

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - October 31, 2003 - Salesforce.com®, the world leader in delivering software-as-service, today announced the launch of its charitable salesforce.com/foundation in Europe. Salesforce.com gives one per cent of its profit, equity and employee time to the Foundation, to use technology to enhance the lives of underprivileged youth. With the expansion of its Foundation in Europe, salesforce.com is proving that community service can be integrated into the core of a business as it grows.

Salesforce.com/foundation works with non-profit organizations including charities, schools and after-school groups involved in youth and technology projects. It encourages its partners and customers to participate in the unique model of donating 1% of profits to the community annually, 1% of equity to its programs and 1% of employee working hours to community service, and to build a new model for corporations to better serve the communities in which they operate.

Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com and founder of the salesforce.com/foundation, will formally launch the European arm of the salesforce.com/foundation during his remarks at Barnardo's Black Cat Ball charity fundraiser at The Natural History Museum in London. European salesforce.com/foundation partners supporting the launch include: Net4Kids, Sports4Success, City of Dublin YMCA, the Multi-Agency Women's Resource Centre, Lambeth Learning Mentor programme, Lewisham Youth Theatre and Kinder-und Jungendfreizeitzentrum.

Dutch children's charity Net4Kids uses salesforce.com's application free of charge to maintain its database and report on project progress, ensuring charitable donors know exactly where their money is being used.

The Foundation has been operating in the United States since salesforce.com's inception in 1999. Already, it has established 43 technology centers in 10 countries reaching over 50,000 young people. Salesforce.com employees have given 8,000 hours of their time to community projects over the past four years. European Foundation partners include:

- Net4Kids, the Netherlands
Net4Kids works in a unique way to give underprivileged children a better future, by giving donors the opportunity to support a specific project such as buying computers for students in Ghana or supporting an orphanage in Nepal. 100% of donations go to projects and donors are kept regularly updated with news. Net4Kids and salesforce.com/foundation are developing an ongoing partnership to further their shared vision of using technology to enhance the lives of underprivileged kids worldwide. www.net4kids.org

- Ki-Ju - Brandenburg, Germany
This after-school club, Kinder-und Jungendfreizeitzentrum, offers more than 50 children a place to learn, play sports, socialize and be creative. The United States Embassy in Berlin has an on-going relationship with the club and recently provided them with hardware, which the Foundation supplemented with operating systems and software, to give students access to the Internet. They hope to be participating in the Foundation's filmmaking series next year. www.kiju-club.de

- Lewisham Youth Theatre, London, UK
Lewisham Youth Theatre is free to young people in the borough of Lewisham. It provides a secure environment in which to develop skills and explore ideas. Through the discipline of theatre it encourages self-esteem, social awareness and commitment. The Foundation donated a video camera and tripod to the theatre so they can record all their work, and will assist them in designing a website.

- Sports4Success, Ireland
Sports4Success is an after school education program, delivered through the medium of sport to boys and girls aged 9-12 years who are educationally disadvantaged. Salesforce.com EMEA staff clocked 400 volunteer hours running a sports and crafts day, with a barbecue, for 120 kids from Sports4Success in July 2003. www.sport4success.com

- The Multi-Agency Womens Resource Centre, London, UK
The Multi-Agency Women's Resource Centre is working creatively to combat social isolation and meet the diverse needs of women and those providing services to them through a unique mix of creative partnerships, social enterprise and equal access to space, resources and opportunities. The Centre is using the salesforce.com application, implemented by a staff volunteer, to track all of their information and projects.

- City of Dublin YMCA
The City of Dublin YMCA, Ireland addresses the educational, recreational and spiritual needs of those most disadvantaged living in the inner city Dublin area. Through its Vision 2000 Project it is working to provide support, education and accommodation for young people vulnerable to homelessness. Salesforce.com staff regularly work with the YMCA providing food and a friendly face to young people on Dublin's streets. www.ymca.ie

- The Lambeth Learning Mentor Programme, London, UK
Lambeth Learning Mentor Programme works to enable children who are at a significantly lower level than their peers, to develop their literacy skills by having access to dedicated software on a laptop. The intention is to significantly develop these areas and as a result enable the child to better work alongside their peers in primary school, and therefore be able to make a successful transition to secondary school. Salesforce.com/foundation provided two laptops and specialist software to the program.
