SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — November 17, 2004 — Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that Quintiles Transnational Corp, the world's leading provider of product development and commercialization solutions to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, has selected salesforce.com as its global CRM standard. Quintiles has already begun enterprise-wide implementation of salesforce.com for what is expected to be a 2,000-user deployment as part of an agreement signed during salesforce.com's third fiscal quarter.
Quintiles' selection of salesforce.com followed an extensive evaluation of CRM options, including three large enterprise software vendors. "With so many Quintiles users involved in migrating to the new system, it was important that our evaluation process was comprehensive," said Georgina Morris, head of global business development information systems at Quintiles. "We carried out a rigorous evaluation based on key areas such as customization, functionality, cost, technical architecture and vision. Salesforce.com's on-demand solution was the preferred choice based on its low-risk, on-demand technology model and all-round usability."
Salesforce.com will be used by Quintiles' sales and marketing teams across the world to boost repeat sales and track customer interactions. Quintiles works with hundreds of pharmaceutical and biotech companies to help them develop and market their products.
