Morrison Utility Services selects Force.com as Platform To Develop Management System
~ Leading UK service provider for the provision and maintenance of utility network infrastructure moves its operations into the cloud ~
LONDON – December 7, 2009 – Salesforce.com, the enterprise cloud computing (http:// www.salesforce.com/cloudcomputing/) company, has announced that Morrison Utility Services, a leading UK provider of utility network infrastructure and maintenance, has deployed the Force.com cloud computing platform for custom application development to configure its work and cost-management systems. Already a Salesforce CRM customer, Morrison Utility Services required a custom application to track the progress of each project from receipt of work to completion. The company selected Force.com to provide a low risk, cost-effective platform for rapid application deployment using simple drag and drop and the native in built functionality of Force.com. This removed the worry about security and the design of the database, which resulted in a reduction in the overall development time. By building a work management application on Force.com, Morrison Utility Services has replaced contract-specific spreadsheets, databases and paper processes with a single, shared application that has resulted in the ability to plan, execute and report on projects with immediate real-time transparency of information. Graeme Cross, business systems manager at Morrison Utility Services said: “Our IT system really creates the foundation for what we do. Using Force.com we were able to deliver a valued service to our clients using data capture, analysis and delivery to plan work and identify opportunities for efficiency.” Morrison Utility Services has derived the following benefits since implementing Force.com:- Greater visibility of project work The number of data sources in operation on one contract has dropped from 18 to one single real-time view Streamlining has decreased data entry time allocation by staff from 90 minutes per project to 40 minutes, a reduction of over 50 per cent The time required to assemble and build applications has been cut by more than 66 per cent using Force.com (975 hours compared with 300 hours using Force.com) Morrison Utility Services has reduced the time needed to create reports by 97 per cent, time spent is now 30 minutes quarterly in comparison to 1,080 minutes
“Morrison Utility Services prides itself on our relationships with clients which are driven by our aim to deliver what we promise. The agility and flexibility that Force.com provides enables us to adapt to our clients’ needs at very short notice. This transparency and collaborative working enables clients to run reports at anytime using real time data enabling the mandatory auditing and reporting process required by the regulators,” said Cross.
