JoEllen Kames
author title Director, Product DesignAs a design leader on the Agentforce platform, I lead teams who design intentional interactions to help people understand what the AI is doing, trust in its outputs, and feel confident engaging with it. I’m fortunate to be collaborating with a talented group of people focused on agent observability, multi-agent interactions, and runtime experiences. What I enjoy most about designing AI driven experiences is unraveling how to work with this new design “material” and how it can be shaped to anticipate and meet users’ needs in meaningful ways.
With twenty years of experience, my practice is driven by a human and systems-centered approach, connecting an understanding of users to possibilities for emerging technology. I believe that successful outcomes are created when the needs of people are considered alongside the systems that will be used to create and sustain them. Before joining the Agentforce team, I led a UX team at Tableau focused on using natural language generation to help people see, understand, and act on data. Previously, I led design and design research teams in roles at Narrative Science, Northern Trust, Motorola Mobility, and HSBC.
You might find me teaching at the Institute of Design at IIT or Northwestern, where I serve as adjunct professor for graduate classes on interaction design and customer-driven opportunities. You’re also likely to find me hiking along the Chicago River, watching movies with my family (and our cats) and cooking and baking.
