Road to Ranger

As you learn on Trailhead, you will earn points and badges. The more points and badges you acquire, the higher you will climb in the Trailblazer Ranks. Many Trailblazers make a public goal to become a Trailhead Ranger, which requires at least 100 badges and 50,000 points.

Becoming a Trailhead Ranger is a helpful goal for those working their way through all the awesome Trailhead modules and projects. It can also signify that you’re ready to take the next step and earn a Trailhead superbadge or even a globally recognized Salesforce certification.

But, wait! How do you become a Trailhead Ranger like LaToya Hargrett? How do you get on this famous Road to Ranger? And what exactly is it?

The Road to Ranger is a fun name for a set of three carefully curated trailmixes (think of these as learning playlists) featuring the perfect blend of badges and points to take the guesswork out of how to reach the Ranger requirement of at least 100 badges and 50,000 points.

The three trailmix you’ll need on your Road to Ranger are:

  • Trailmix 1Get started with the basics about Trailhead, Salesforce, and some important guiding principles.
  • Trailmix 2Take a look at our technology.
  • Trailmix 3Get hands-on and earn some points!

The Quest part!

The real reward for becoming a Ranger is, of course, all that learning. But with Trailhead Quests, there’s even more incentive to unlock your Ranger rank.

The monthly Road to Ranger Quest gives you the chance to win* an iconic Trailblazer hoodie! Check out the Road to Ranger and Beyond section of the Trailhead Quests page to find the current month’s Road to Ranger Quest details.

The Quest itself consists of following the current month’s Road to Ranger Quest trailmix and completing the three trailmixes mentioned in the section above. Eligible participants enter for a chance to win* their very own hoodie like Trailblazer, Gregory Massaro.

Learning is not a race

No matter what stage you’re at on your learning journey, the Road to Ranger trailmixes are for everyone. Work through them in sequential order to help build upon the knowledge you gain along the way.

Everyone’s learning pace is different. Remember it’s not a race! Increasing your rank should take time and we have learned on average it takes a few months to reach Ranger.

Forming a learning plan can help. Some best practice tips for reaching Ranger status are:

  • Dedicate time in your schedule for learning on Trailhead.
  • Limit your learning to 4-5 badges each day to ensure you’re really absorbing all that knowledge.
  • Learn by doing! Invest time in the hands-on challenges, they are worth 5 times more points than multiple choice quizzes.
  • Download Trailhead GO so you can learn from your phone!

Don’t forget, if you’re already a Trailhead Ranger, you can continue to climb from Ranger to Double Star Ranger all the way up to All Star Ranger!

Learning is a community sport

Sometimes, finding time to dedicate to Trailhead can be tricky. That’s where the Trailblazer Community can help! The Trailblazer Community is an amazing network of millions of people who help each other along the journey of learning and succeeding with Salesforce.

Trailblazers around the world gather locally or online to work together on Trailhead during Trailblazer Community Group meetings, Salesforce Saturdays, and more. Consider joining in, or starting something similar with your colleagues.

Remember, learning is a team sport, and sometimes it’s nice to be able to talk through a harder unit or hands-on challenge with someone else.

Thinking of going on the #RoadToRanger? Share your goal publicly with #RoadToRanger on your social media platform of choice and hold yourself accountable. We’re so excited to go on this journey with you!
