To make learning a bit more fun, every time you complete a lesson on Trailhead you earn points and badges while climbing the Trailblazer ranks to demonstrate how far you’ve come. Trailhead is structured to help you learn in the following ways:

  • Modules are bite-size units that guide you through specific topics.
  • Projects help you gain new skills with hands-on practice through the Trailhead Playground (your own developer environment) giving step-by-step instructions as you work.
  • Trails are guided learning paths made up of modules and projects that help you explore topics, gain relevant skills, and get hands on with Salesforce products.
  • Trailmixes are custom learning paths created by you. Add your favorite trails, modules, projects, and more to your trailmix—then share it with your team.
  • Superbadges enable you to take new skills you’ve learned and apply them to real-world business problems.

Another element of fun and motivation are Trailblazer Quests. Quests run each month and combine the challenge of gaining new skills with the chance of scoring fun prizes like Salesforce Certification vouchers and limited-edition community badges.

“Trailhead and Trailhead GO have enabled our organization to grow the breadth and depth of our knowledge of the Salesforce platform.”

What makes learning on Trailhead effective?

“Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand.”

When you’re studying alone, there’s no one there to check your work and make sure you’re on the right track. But with Trailhead you can take a self-administered hands-on challenge or multiple-choice quiz at the end of each unit.

  • Hands-on challenges – you’ll get free access to Salesforce technology in a safe practice space called a Trailhead Playground. This means you can learn, and even make mistakes, without fear of breaking anything. Because one of the best ways to learn is by doing.
  • Quizzes – short multiple-choice or true-false questions that test you on the key concepts you just read about.

You can’t write about Trailhead without also mentioning the Trailblazer Community. Through the Community you can collaborate with others based on your location, role, or interests. You can join Community groups, get product support, and grow your professional network. Explore the over 1,300 Community Groups across 90 countries to connect with Salesforce learners just like you, online and in-person.

How do I sign up?

Trailhead has both a website and a mobile app called Trailhead GO (available on iOS and Android). Anyone who’s ready to take their skills to the next level can easily sign up for a free Trailhead account (no Salesforce CRM account needed) at Trailhead.com or through the app.
