Key Takeaways
What if the only limit to what you could build was your own curiosity and not your ability to code?
Across Salesforce, account executives, solutions engineers, and data specialists are doing exactly that. They’re people whose careers were built around customer relationships and strategy, not software development. And yet, they’ve built forecasting tools, interactive quizzes, call loggers, and workflow automations that their teams use every day.
They didn’t go back to school or write a single line of code. With Slackbot now available to every employee, those “wait, can I do that”’ moments were met with a resounding yes.
AI fluency, it turns out, isn’t about being technical at all. It’s about leading with curiosity and being willing to think differently about what you’re capable of.
We talked to three people who did exactly that. Here’s who they are, what they learned, and what they built.

Senior Specialist Solution Engineering (SE), Tableau, four years at Salesforce. Believes the most powerful AI skill is knowing exactly how to ask.

Senior Account Executive (AE), five years at Salesforce. Turned his team’s busiest bottlenecks into his best building projects.

Senior Account Executive (AE), almost four years at Salesforce. Went all in on context, and it changed everything about how he works.
How do you describe Slackbot?
Slackbot is where AI becomes part of how you work, not a separate destination but a thought partner already woven into your day, shaped by your questions, your ideas, and your curiosity.
Dominic: I’d say it’s evolved into something closer to a highly capable chief-of-staff than a digital assistant. It doesn’t just execute tasks. It helps me think. The more context I give, the better the output. But what makes it genuinely special is that it’s moldable. I’ve been able to shape it into something that reflects exactly how I work as an AE and as someone who also cares about team enablement.
Tobias: Slackbot is an amazing resource for accessing all the information there is at Salesforce. It’s also become a useful sounding board that helps me validate my thoughts and catch things I might’ve missed, which makes my overall work stronger.
Varsha: I’d describe it as a highly capable digital partner. It’s incredibly effective at accelerating execution, organizing information, generating ideas, and handling repetitive work, but the human still provides the judgment, prioritization, and strategic direction. It’s an accelerator for critical thinking, not a replacement for it.
Now, how does Slackbot describe you?
We asked everyone to prompt Slackbot with one question: “Describe me as a superhero.” The results were different every time. Because of course they were.
Tobias: The Orchestrator. Superpower: Fractal Clarity.
- The ability to see a chaotic, multi-threaded situation and instantly collapse it into the one structural move that unblocks everything. Where others see noise, you see the critical path.
Varsha: The DataSavant. Superpower: Technical Wizardry Under Fire.
- Can instantly diagnose broken systems, reverse-engineer complex workflows, and turn chaos into clarity — all while keeping customers and teammates moving forward. No bug is too cryptic, no integration too tangled, no missing license too elusive. But DataSavant’s true power isn’t just fixing things. It’s building things no one thought to build yet.
Dominic: The Signal. The Superpower: Instant Intelligence Synthesis
- Uncanny ability to absorb complex, fragmented information from dozens of sources simultaneously and distill it into laser-sharp, exec-ready intelligence in seconds. Where others see chaos, you see action items, a Canvas, and a Slack post.
Where does your work actually live and why does that matter?
Because Slackbot lives inside Slack, it already knows how your business works, drawing on your conversations, files, calendar, and Salesforce records without any extra setup.
Dominic: The biggest thing is zero context-switching. My work lives in Slack, including my deal updates, my customer conversations, my team and account communications. And I’ve tailored my workflows to the way I actually work. It’s not templated.
Tobias: I have managed to integrate a variety of signals (like Slack, email, and Org62 meeting nodes) into Slack and hence really give it a lot of context for my everyday tasks. Slackbot connects directly into the Salesforce platform so it can reference my pipeline, follow ups, and more all in one spot. This really amplifies the value Slackbot has for me.
Varsha: Slack is already where most collaboration and decision-making happens, so having AI directly embedded there removes friction entirely.
What was the moment everything clicked for you?
Salesforce has always been a team of high-velocity learners, and Slackbot is no exception. The most powerful accelerator isn’t any single feature, it’s a culture where employees share what they’re building, and everyone moves faster because of it.
Dominic: There were a few early moments of ‘that’s not quite what I meant,’ but those moments helped me sharpen how I communicate. Within a few weeks, I was getting consistently useful outputs and not long after that I was building my own custom Skills on top of Slackbot. You have to develop a sense for when to verify outputs, especially on data-driven tasks. But that’s honestly a healthy habit regardless of the technology.
Varsha: Honestly, the learning curve was pretty approachable. Early on, there’s definitely some trial and error around prompt structure and understanding how specific you need to be, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very intuitive. I wouldn’t describe it as frustrating but it felt more like learning a new workflow optimization tool.
Tobias: Having someone help me take the first steps and build the first things was very helpful. Then, I’ve had a phase of exponential growth in capabilities that transformed Slackbot from a tool to a real digital partner. This really 10x the value Slackbot has for me.

What cool things are you building and what does it change for you?
Some of the best things built with Slackbot at Salesforce weren’t assigned, planned, or scoped. They started with someone curious enough to ask “what if?” and motivated enough to find out.
Dominic: One of my favorite examples is the Product Decoded Quiz: a learning tool I built to help our team stay sharp on Salesforce products and pricing. It runs right inside Slack, tracks streaks and scores, and was built entirely without writing a single line of code. That one really showed me that the ceiling for what you can create here is much higher than I expected.
Varsha: One example is the Regional Vice President (RVP) forecasting brief workflow we built in Slack. Instead of manually reading through dozens of forecast updates, pipeline changes, and leadership comments across channels, Slackbot automatically summarizes the key highlights for each RVP and surfaces potential risks or notable changes. It’s helped teams get ahead of forecast reviews faster, identify deal risks earlier, and spend more time discussing actions instead of gathering information.

How has Slackbot helped you advance your career?
What starts as curiosity becomes capability, and for a lot of Salesforce employees, that capability has become one of the most meaningful drivers of their career growth.

Varsha: It’s been a meaningful force multiplier. A big part of succeeding at Salesforce is moving quickly, communicating clearly, and operating across multiple workstreams at once. Slackbot helps me scale those abilities. It also lowers the barrier to starting complex tasks by quickly generating a strong first draft or framework for me to refine from there. This frees me up to take on more complex assignments and that’s exactly how I’m able to keep growing.
Dominic: I’ve built workflows that empower our entire sales team globally, including a Slackbot Skill that automatically pulls deal context from Salesforce, Slack, and Google Drive, scores opportunities across key criteria, and suggests next steps all with one prompt. No manual digging through systems. It was shared globally by our management with around 30,000 sellers worldwide, with positive feedback coming in from sellers across the globe.
Tobias: I’m extremely confident that every minute spent in expanding my own Slackbot and other AI capabilities is time very well invested into my career.
AI isn’t just evolving skills. It’s creating entirely new career opportunities that didn’t exist a few years ago. See the new roles emerging at Salesforce right now.
How does your team support you in using AI and Slackbot?
At Salesforce, encouragement to use Slackbot tends to come from a manager who makes space for it, a teammate who normalizes asking for help, a channel where using AI well is just part of how the team operates.
Varsha: My manager encourages us to use Slackbot for our day-to-day admin tasks! As a solutions engineer, our whole job is about making things work more efficiently including our own work. We often make space for knowledge sharing in our weekly team meetings, so everyone is aware of what’s new and coming. Our team Slack channel is also pretty active; people on my team are always sharing new info they came across there!
Tobias: Our SEs, architects, and other technical colleagues are incredible! Just ask for help. And of course, our internal Slack channel, #how-i-slackbot, has over 6,000 members who share new skills and troubleshoot together. It’s fun to see how others are using the it and how you can adapt.
At Salesforce, we operate as Customer Zero, meaning we are our own test audience and toughest critic. Here are some of our key learnings in the as we build the Agentic Enterprise.
What’s the first thing you’d tell someone who’s just getting started with using AI at work?
You don’t need to prep it, brief it, or explain yourself. Slackbot already has the context so the only thing standing between you and your first useful answer is the question itself.
Varsha: Be specific about what you want and why and you’ll get better responses. Don’t ask ‘summarize this.’ Say ‘give me three bullets on the key risks for this customer.’ That shift in how you ask is the whole skill.
Dominic: The biggest shift wasn’t technical. It was my mindset. I had to stop thinking of it as a search engine and start treating it more like a thought partner.

What does initiative look like at scale at Salesforce?
Dominic, Varsha, and Tobias didn’t set out to build anything. They set out to figure something out — and that’s a meaningful distinction.
The efficiency gains are real. But the fuller story is in the quiz Dominic built because he wanted to keep his team sharp, the forecasting brief that gave Varsha’s team room to think instead of dig, and the Slack channel where Tobias found colleagues who helped him keep going when he got stuck. That’s what curiosity looks like when it has somewhere to go. And at Salesforce, it tends to be contagious.
