Together Accodex and Salesforce disrupt the professional services industry

On the face of it, Accodex looks like any other professional services firm. It delivers accounting and technology consulting services to small and medium businesses with turnover of up to $20 million. The difference with Accodex lies in how, and by who, these services are delivered.

The company is built on a partner model, whereby freelance accounting and IT professionals join Accodex as partners and deliver their services under the Accodex brand. Partners use the Accodex back-office solutions to grow their business.

The model is clearly paying off. In 2016, Accodex was picked as one of the fastest growing start-ups in Australia, as part of the elevate61 program run by KPMG and Advance. The company is recording incredible month-on-month growth; and has a goal of having 1000 partners in 10 years.

Macolino, CTO and founder, wanted a cloud technology with proven scalability to handle the projected growth of the business. “Salesforce solved the problem, bringing all of our business processes into one system and giving us the ability to scale with complete confidence. It is an affordable way of provisioning great technology to our partners, while giving us complete visibility into everything that is going on.”

Community Cloud is the primary hub for on-boarding and supporting Accodex partners. It gives the entire partner community instant access to the resources and tools they need, in real time, no matter where they are in the world.

New partners first experience Community Cloud through a 90-day on-boarding program. This in-depth program teaches the basics like hunting for work, finding their niche, networking and promoting themselves. It might sound simple, but for professionals who started out in big firms where this was managed for them, there’s a lot to learn.

Once partners are up and running, Community Cloud continues to act as the central hub for all partner collaboration, workflow management and communication.

“If a partner has grown to the point where there’s too much work to handle alone, they can use our CPA qualified team in the Philippines for support,” explained Macolino. “It’s very important that our partners have complete confidence in our offshore team. We use Community Cloud and Chatter to connect them. They can work together with complete visibility into who the client is, what they need, and so on. Partners use Chatter to help each other, too.”

Accodex uses Salesforce dashboards for opportunity management and job management. Through the simple, yet data-rich interface, partners can easily identify opportunities and the Accodex team can see where partners may need help to close a deal.

Accodex is also using Community Cloud to give clients instant access to the status of their projects. Clients can access handy guides and tutorials on a range of topics from how to grow their business to the nuts and bolts of processing payroll.

Service Cloud supports both partners and end clients. If a client has an issue they can raise a support ticket in Salesforce. Their case is then routed to the best person within Accodex to deal with it.

“Salesforce is changing the way that professional services are delivered. Our clients and partners keep coming back into our environment to engage, and it is opening up so many more possibilities around how we can better support them,” said Macolino.

Accodex has rolled out five different Salesforce AppExchange apps, finding the most useful solutions for different parts of the business. Given that their main mantra is efficiency, all of these apps are designed to make life easier for Accodex, its partners and its clients.

“Given our belief in the role of cloud computing in professional services, we are now looking at becoming a Salesforce implementation partner. We know that Salesforce is fundamental to our goal of having 1000 partners, and we look forward to cross-promoting our vision for cloud to clients across the globe.”
