In 2009, during a downturn in the stock market, Misty Jones found herself rebuilding her career. She had been working in a sales role at a regional bank and was looking for a new direction. When the bank’s Salesforce administrator quit, Misty’s boss asked her what she knew about Salesforce — and she seized the opportunity. Misty started by balancing her sales responsibilities with her new role as solo Salesforce admin for her team, changing the course of her entire career.

As Misty deepened her understanding of the Salesforce Platform, she attended an admin training, which proved to be a turning point. During the class, another admin excitedly asked if she would be attending Dreamforce, describing how transformative the experience had been. Inspired by the story, Misty attended Dreamforce for the first time that year, and the experience of connecting with the Trailblazer Community in-person shifted her path. Misty realized that her future lay in being an admin full-time, and that her true passion was in helping people sell, not being the salesperson.
