Oliver Bodden didn't come to Indeed to build AI agents. He joined the company to modernize its customer communications, drawing on a background in electronic engineering, software development, and enterprise telephony. That work eventually led him to rethink how one of the world's largest job marketplaces supports its customers.
At Indeed, he was tasked with deploying Service Cloud Voice and did it so successfully that he was handed the entire channel strategy for one of the world's largest job marketplaces, where 31 people are hired every minute.
Two years ago, Oliver and his team identified a fundamental opportunity in Indeed's support model. Their contact channels weren't just service channels - they were revenue channels.
An employer who can't get help with a billing question might leave. A business whose job posting gets flagged might go to a competitor. Every interaction carried financial weight.
The first solution - a hybrid AI chatbot built in MuleSoft - worked well enough to prove the concept: containment was possible, CSAT was improving, and the business was paying attention. When Agentforce launched, Oliver immediately recognized it as the platform that could scale what he'd built. Agentforce has it all built in. And they don't have to worry about that process.
Oliver launched Indeed's Employer Service Agent, an external-facing agent embedded in the authenticated employer experience on indeed.com. The agent handles common inquiries, troubleshoots issues step by step, and knows when to escalate. The team spent months refining the experience with two goals in mind: improving containment while maintaining customer satisfaction.
When they started, containment was 4% and CSAT was below 2. Today, containment is 25% and CSAT sits at 4.0 - improving steadily toward the 4.5 benchmark of Indeed's human agents.
When we shifted into CSAT and we moved the needle in a month - going from 1.8 to 4.0 average - it was a feeling of: we can do this. This is actually possible.

After proving what a customer-facing agent could do, Oliver started thinking about a bigger challenge: "super agent" framework embedded in Slack - a single interface where employees and customers can find the right agent, regardless of which system it lives in. Agentforce, custom tools, MCP integrations - all surfaced in one place. Oliver says that the user shouldn't have to worry about switching tabs or applications. We bring the right agents to them.
