What is a customer feedback loop?
A customer feedback loop is the ongoing cycle of collecting customer input, acting on it, and telling customers what changed as a result. Most teams that do this well follow a simple ACAF framework: Ask, Categorize, Act, and Follow Up.
The ACAF customer feedback loop:
1. Ask
Request feedback at the right moment, such as after a purchase, support interaction, or other key customer experience.
2. Categorize
Organize feedback by themes, issues, customer segments, or other relevant criteria so broader patterns surface instead of one-off complaints.
3. Act
Use those patterns to prioritize improvements and take action on what the feedback actually shows.
4. Follow up
Tell customers what changed — or explain why a change isn't possible — to close the loop and show that their feedback was heard.
