Sustainability at Salesforce FAQs

Sustainability is a core value at Salesforce. We embed sustainability across our operations, technology, partnerships, and investments to drive measurable environmental progress. Through intentional action against clear targets, we aim to reduce risk, unlock economic opportunity, and contribute to a more sustainable and nature positive global economy. Learn more about our climate and nature progress in the Stakeholder Impact Report.

AI sustainability is critical for a healthy business and healthy planet. Developed through close partnership with AI Research, Sustainability, and the Office of Ethical and Humane Use, Salesforce’s preliminary approach to AI sustainability focuses on on three main pillars: smart demand (using AI wisely), efficiency (doing more with less), and clean supply (working to power AI with low-impact resources). Learn more in the AI Sustainability Outlook.

While Salesforce focuses on reducing our own emissions, we also compensate for any emissions we are unable to reduce via high integrity carbon credits. Carbon markets are vital for financing climate solutions and should be part of a comprehensive strategy. Salesforce believes in our collective ability to mitigate the risks of carbon markets and seize their immense potential. Learn more about our approach here.

Because climate and nature are interdependent, we take an integrated approach to addressing them. We are a founding partner of the Forest Future Alliance (previously 1t.org), a global movement to conserve, restore, and steward forest landscapes worldwide. As part of our commitment to Forest Future Alliance, Salesforce set a goal to help fund the conservation, restoration, or growth of 100 million trees by the end of the decade. You can track our progress here.

Agentforce Net Zero is sustainability software built on the world’s #1 AI CRM. It leverages the full power of the Salesforce ecosystem by pulling an organization’s sustainability data into one place and creating actionable insights to guide strategic decisions.

Ecopreneurs are innovators focused on solving sustainability challenges. Salesforce invests in these organizations to scale climate and nature solutions. For example:

  • Salesforce provides philanthropic grants to nonprofit ecopreneurship support organizations.
  • The Salesforce Accelerator — Agents for Impact initiative provides technology, funding, and pro bono expertise to help nonprofits build and customize AI agents, including a cohort focused exclusively on nature.
  • The Salesforce Ventures Impact Fund invests in enterprise software companies creating better access to clean energy, improving resource efficiency, and increasing supply chain performance.
  • We also co-founded UpLink, the innovation platform at the World Economic Forum that supports the growth and scales the impact of best-in-class startups working on innovative climate solutions.

As Customer Zero, we put our technology to work on our own toughest challenges — including scaling Salesforce’s sustainability and impact programs. We use Agentforce to deliver critical sustainability and impact insights, answer customer questions, and assist with our philanthropic grantmaking. This means our Impact team can be more efficient, improving reporting and data management processes and outcomes, while also freeing up time to take more meaningful, strategic action.
